Hi everyone and welcome to my spark page. Let me tell you all a little bit about myself...First of all, I am a happily married mom of two, a 28 year old daughter, Alicia, and a 27 year old multi-disabled son, Daniel. Alicia has been married for almost 4 years, and Daniel is active in many activities for special needs' adults. I live in Middle Tennessee.

I have worked as an assistant for a special needs bus for the past 20 years, and I also work as a caregiver for a special needs' adult who went to school with my son. I currently volunteer with a non profit called The Joy Center. We are working to give special needs' adults who have aged out of school a safe, fun-filled place to go, socialize, enjoy games, music, crafts, and other activities. . I love working with special needs children, and in my spare time,I do volunteer work as a coach for Challenger League, which is a ball team for special children here in my area. I love having parties for these special guys and dolls, and my biggest one is an annual Christmas in July party where we spoil our clients at Joy Center with a day just for them. I am a Christian. I sing with my dad, who plays guitar and sings, at local churches....just old bluegrass gospel songs, mainly at small churches in the area.

I have always been self conscious of my weight, but unlike my younger days of simply wanting to be 'skinny,' I now want to be healthy and do it the right way with healthy eating and exercise. I have reached the age(48) where I have to work harder to keep off the extra weight I recently gained. I have been on Spark for about ten years, lost weight, then regained some, but trying to lose again. I recently restarted my program, changing my ticker and setting new goals. I realize I will need to make life changes to have permanent weight loss.

Fitness Minutes: 1,885

My Goals:
I would like to feel healthy and energetic again. I have recently been feeling the effects of perimenopause and experienced about a ten pound weight gain. I would like to lose about 20 pounds with healthy eating and exercise to stay toned and lean.

My Program:
I love, love, love to paced, sometimes with weights, other times without. I also love the Walk away the Pounds dvds. I am planning to work intervals of light jogging into my routine, although I am not interested in becoming a runner, at least at this point. I would like to incorporate kettle bells and pilates again into my workout as they have been beneficial before, and I like the 'athletic' feel and look of the results.

Personal Information:
I have been married since 1988 to a great guy. We have two children, now adults, one of who is multi disabled. I am a Christian, but I have so many faults and definitely try not to judge anyone.

Other Information:
i like yard sales, clearance sales, anything that saves me money. I also enjoy watching shows that make absolutely no sense like Gilligans Island, Threes Company, Seinfeld,etc. I do have a more serious side every now and then, but I feel that I work hard and deserve to enjoy life ever how I want whether it will be traveling (hopefully one day before i die) or just laying around watching TV and drinking coffee.

    Thank you for the lovely comments on my new web page. I worked the final three years of my teaching as a resource social studies teacher. I taught World Geo, World Hist, American Hist, Government and Economics to special ed children. I also taught home economics and reading improvement to different students. For decades I taught Honors English in the High school, but the last three years I chose to change my field. I have a mentally challenged 23 yr old grand son who went through school in special ed classes, and I wanted to give back for all that was done for him. He is an excellent worker, and has just been promoted in WalMarts from cart person to stock clerk. He was their #1 cart person for years.

    You can do it! Keep up the good work!! You have the determination and will --it is built into just apply it to your nutrition and diet goals and you're SET! God is our helper..without him..I can't do anything..even resist the temptation of a candy bar :-) Lord continue giving us the strength to bring health and healing to our bodies.

    Hi Debbie! You know its funny, I came across your page yesterday and was like, WOW! How similar can you get and even be in the same state! I was going to write to you but, I am still new and don't know how to approach people too well. I have been forcing myself to post on the boards because it really seems to help. I would love it if we could motivate each other! I need all the help I can get! You have 2 beautiful children! I should find a picture of my son and post it! And do you ever rest?! I thought I was busy!!! Thank you for saying that I look good for 160!!!!! I am 5'5 too... I carry it all in my butt for the most part and it is pretty hidden in that picture! You wont see me wearing spandex!!!! LOL! I have been into weight lifting and body building for many a year but, have not been working out like a body builder for the past few years but still eating like one!!!
