Hi there!

Thanks for stopping by! Here is a little about myself and my journey.

For as long as I can remember I have struggled with my weight. I was always the chubby girl, the one who struggled to find prom dresses, the one who couldn't wear a bikini to a pool party and the one who thought something was wrong with her because she couldn't lose weight. I was the one who hated herself because she didn't look like everyone else and I was the one who thought that her self worth was tied to her dress size.

In 2009 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and Type 2 Diabetes. At 21, I was more than 80 pounds overweight, depressed and shocked at the news I had just received. I knew I didn't like the way I looked in the mirror, but I had no idea that my weight could affect my health at such a young age. For awhile I let myself be defeated. I read up on PCOS and thought that I could never lose weight because of what I read. I got consumed by the "why me". Although I had been yo-yo dieting and walking around a large campus, I knew I had to change a lot of my habits. I started small, replacing a meal with salad, going for a walk on the treadmill etc. Slowly and steadily I grew to love fitness everything from Zumba to the elliptical to lifting weights. I started to learn how to portion control, and figured out what was worth a cheat and what was not.

On August 10th, 2012 I was taken off of all diabetes medication and my diabetes was reversed. At my most recent physical, I was told that I could go back to yearly physical appointments because my blood sugar had been stabilized. This is what keeps me going. I never want to go back there again!

I have lost about 50 pounds and I am looking to lose the last 36 to be in my healthy weight range for the first time that I can remember! Losing weight this time is different because it is about love. The love of exercise, the love of fitness and the love of myself. This journey has taught me that if you enjoy yourself and work your hardest you will be rewarded. Yes, we have bad days - days where we overeat, pick the couch over exercising or don't like what we see in the mirror. Move forward, progress, let yourself have those moments.

All about self love, baby!
