I started my new lifestyle on January 9, 2012. I was 240 pounds, my knees hurt and I wasn't doing much besides work and home.

It is now September 15, 2014. I got down to 150, stagnated at 165 and now am back to 180 after my Father's passing. I am back in the gym, back tracking calories, back to low carbs, low fat, low sugar. I did it once, I will do it again. My goal is to be close to or under 160 by the end of this year and to reach my goal of bing active and fit as soon as possible after that. I'd like to say 1145-150 bt my Docotr says with my active life-style and strength needed for my job, I ma need to be happy with 150. We shall see.
I am still grieving and learning how to move on after being a care taker for 15 years. My weight loss opened a new door for me once before and I look forward to spending more time outdoors, traveling and longer workouts at the gym. More healthy cooking and new discoveries in international cooking. (I think I was from Indian in a past life!)
So much to learn and re-learn...... onward!

Personal Information:
I'm 49. I am a director for a small non-profit organization which I love. I love to hike, cook, good wine, good beer and I hope to do more outdoors. I now own a canoe and a mountain bike! I love both! I will have to look for outdoor winter activities.
I don't watch much tv anymore. I read more.Im fixing up my house.


Other Information:
I love cooking and I am always up for a new healthy low processed recipe!

    Congrats on getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support- it's also lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together.

    Sometimes the best way to start is to just pick a small goal such as drinking 8 glasses of water a day or eating 5 fruits and veggies plus a small exercise goal such as increasing whatever you've been doing by 10% - I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized here instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' and another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
