emoticon I love those Xmas cookies, too, but one thing I have learned is that all I really want is the TASTE. I found I can eat anything but I don't have to swallow. I know that doesn't sound nice, but I had a real problem before my endocrinologist put me on Metformin with cravings, especially at night. My husband and sons have never had a "weight issue" so keeping sweets out of my house just wasn't possible.
I'd take the food in the bathroom, look in the mirror and talk to myself about why I needed it. I'd take a bite and when I was ready to swallow, I'd spit it out in the sink. (a cup works, too.) Then I'd take some more bites and when I'd had enough, I'd wash out the sink, brush my teeth and go drink a couple cups of water. Then, I didn't have the guilt and the voice "Harriet" in my head saying how awful I was.
Since I'm on Metformin, Acarbose with meals and a weekly shot of Bydureon, I don't have the cravings, but I still find that when I want something sweet, it is just about the taste, and I don't have to swallow it.
    hugs

If I did 20 minutes of calf raises I'd be screaming on the floor of the church with leg cramps! (Although that might be an improvement over my singing.....)
