I'm SparkPeople's Communications Director and have overall responsibility for public relations. I became a true believer in 2009 upon reading SparkGuy's book, "The Spark." The whole approach is so positive, inspring, and what I call, "radically sensible" in a world of weight-loss gimmicks and fad diets that don't stick. I was so inspired in fact that I quit a higher paying job to try to play a key role in the SparkPeople movement, which is 8 million strong.
I'm chronicling my weight loss journey on the Slowest Loser blog on the Daily Spark every Thursday. I'm trying to lose 35 pounds in 70 weeks and so far I've lost 12 pounds in 19 weeks. Hopefully losing weight will give me more energy as I have a 6-year-old and 4-year-old and I want to keep up to them, set a better example, and live longer!
I think the community aspect of SparkPeople will really help to keep me motivated.

My Goals:
Just a few of my long-term goals:

Rediscover my ribcage and drop from 225 to 190 by August 16, 2011.

Run at least a 10-mile race, maybe a half-marathon, in 2011.

Help make SparkPeople a household name through my job as SP's Communications Director.

Maintain good health so I attend the college graduations and weddings of my 6-year-old and 3-year-old and live to meet my grandchildren.

Faithfully pursue my interest in spritiuality with regular yoga breathing, meditation and education. It's already helped me become a happier and better person, and a better father, husband and employee.

Help make the world a better place.

My Program:
Following the radically sensible approach of Chris "Sparkguy" Downie's New York Times Bestseller "The Spark."

Personal Information:
Live in the lush, leafy enclave of Bucks County, PA.

Other Information:
Married with two young children in a house with a brown picket fence. Living the dream and boy it's fun and exhausting. I am an ex-investment banker, ex-journalist, ex-political speechwriter, ex-book author and ex-financial services PR person who finally landed my dream job at SparkPeople. In recent years I have abandoned cynicism and atheism, largely due to spiruality. I am a student of several spiritual and religious traditions, with Eastern leanings. Favorite movies are The Deer Hunter, The Wrestler, The Accused, Slum Dog Millionaire and other light comedies. At the risk of dating myself, my three favorite musicians are Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Springsteen and Bruce Springsteen, followed by Sheryl Crow, Natalie Merchant, Johnny Cash and The Dixie Chicks and Tom Petty.

Favorite quote is about my amazing, spectacular wife and our journey together: "Two one-way tickets and a diamond ring; it don't matter what the rain might bring." - Bruce Springsteen.
