Fourteen years ago I gave birth to my son. It took me about 5 years to lose 30 pounds and reach a goal of 130 pounds. I spent 2-to-3 of those years on Weight Watchers, slowly watching portion sizes, gradually weaning myself from mindless snacking throughout the day (which had been attributed mainly to "boredom" at that time) and just feeling better overall in regards to my eating habits. From 2008 to 2009 I fell off the wagon and regained 20 pounds so I'm now trying to lose those pounds again and to maintain that weight once I reach the goal. I am 5'6" and my ideal goal weight is either 130 or 125 pounds, depending on how I look and feel at the higher of the two.

2015 update: fell off the wagon again in 2013. Looking toward 2016 with intentions to get back on the wagon and maintain health and fitness goals.

In addition to the weight loss, I'd like to become more physically fit.

I love quotes because to me they are little reminders to keep myself on track, or they are little pick-me-ups when I am down, or they just represent something that has meaning to me. Here are a few of my favorites:

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." -- Groucho Marx

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" -- Eleanor Roosevelt

"When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl. Then I say, 'Bitch, you're Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.'" -- Lady Gaga

"Look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the present. It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear." -- Longfellow

To try and fail is at least to learn. To fail to try is
to suffer the inestimable loss of what might have been.

Those acquainted with me know that I enjoy sharing things I find meaningful
with my friends. I came across this reading the quotations of John Lockwood

Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle,
and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
Happiness never decreases by being shared.

When I am stumbling along the way I am supported by my Spark friends. Their encouragement and thoughtfulness mean so much more than I can say. As I find things which have proven a good resource for me I enjoy sharing them with the individuals who have been there for me. emoticon

" We have a choice of how we view the obstacles on our life path.
One choice makes us slaves to circumstance,
while the other empowers us, and motivates us to follow our dreams-and our happiness." emoticon

I do not always have the capacity to verbalize what I feel deep inside my heart. Therefore, I have cultivated the habit of saving quotations which have touched me. Recently I came across this and I would like to share it with my friends.

Every day is a new day -
a day for new beginnings, new dreams, new action -
a day for challenge, adventure, and discovery.
    TODAY, what is your goal?
    What is your dream?
What action are you taking to further your goals and dreams? emoticon
