I was 42, barely 5'3" and weighed well over 300lbs (darn near 400). Then I found out I had a gluten sensitivity. That was on May 28, 2009 and that's the day my life started over. I didn't know then how much that one fact would change it.

Lots of changes besides the weight. I'm finding the old me. After years of dying my hair red I'm back to the natural color with just a touch of teal from time to time (I'm a balloon artist, it's great for work). I got a tattoo and then a second one. I'm done with frumpy clothes and frumpy hair. I'm worth the extra effort it takes to get ready.

Most importantly - I feel good. Losing the wheat got things started & helped me to make the other changes my life so desperately needed.

Now it's 2014. I've been stuck for about a year 1/2 and have not lost more weight. Sometimes it's easy forget that I lost 150lbs before I stalled, and it's disheartening that I'm not at my goal. That was because I slacked off and didn't keep myself focused. This year I've been working on fixing that and so far I'm doing well. Accountability is part of it, so I'm back at sparkpeople. :-)

My Goals:
Training for my next half marathon - keep up with my progress at

Goal for the week - 25 miles on the stationary bike.

My Program:
I drag myself out of bed almost ever morning at 4:30 to be at the gym by 5:15. There are some days when I don't want to, but I usually make myself do it anyway. Living gluten free usually takes care of my diet, but that one thing isn't enough. I still have to watch my calories because fat is gluten free and it's easy to eat too much of it.

I exercise a lot and eat good food, but I don't ever put anything off limits (unless it has gluten). If I want a candy, I have a candy - but now I'm making INFORMED choices about what I put in my mouth. Having the candy may mean cutting back somewhere else or hitting the gym a bit more (or both).

I go to the gym a LOT. I've also gotten into running. I didn't know I was a runner until I couldn't do it anymore and realized that I missed it!

Personal Information:
I live in Missouri, just south of Kansas City.

Other Information:
I make balloon animals for a living. I knit, crochet and generally craft my little heart out. I'm SolsticeChild on too.
