I'm 40 and a wife and stay-at-home mom of a young daughter. I've been struggling with my weight for nearly eight years. For many of those years, I tried to ignore my weight problem and wrote it off as pregnancy fat, but I was still holding onto some of that pregnancy weight when my daughter was a toddler. She's 8 now.

It's 19 days before my family's spring break cruise and my goal is still to make healthy living my lifestyle and not just a quick fix. I've come to terms w/ the fact that life has gotten in the way and I won't be able to lose 29 lbs by the time we go on the cruise. BUT I've lost 13 lbs so far and that's still an accomplishment to be proud of! I'm learning to like myself no matter what stage of this journey I'm at.



Recently fell off the wagon with both my eating and exercising and trying to get back on track now that school has started. I know I can do it because I lost 41 pounds about three years ago, mainly through starting and continuing a regular workout routine. But my big mistake is I didn't change my poor eating habits and I didn't stick to my regular workouts. So I regained weight within a year of taking it off. I've since regained about 30 lbs.

It also doesn't help that I take medications on a daily basis that have the side effect of weight gain. But I'm determined to get back into shape and to do it the right way this time. Trying to think positive and stay motivated. This Web site and the people on it are a great source of advice and inspiration.

My Goals:
1. To eat healthier.

2. To work out at least 3 times a week.

3. To drink 8 glasses of water per day.

4. To make these things habits and be the best me I can be.

5. To lose 29 lbs.


My Program:
1.Eating more fruit and vegetables.
2. Tracking my daily meals on nutrition tracker.
3. Working out as many times a week as I can.
4. Bringing a big bottle of water with me.
5. Using positive thinking.

    Hey, sorry to hear about the bursitis--I have also had it in my right hip. The important thing is to figure out what's causing it--there's often misalignment somewhere. Now that I've got my orthotics and my TMJ night splint, I have had very little trouble with bursitis in my hip. But it took years to figure out all of the biomechanical issues. If you're interested, you might want to start by having how you walk/run evaluated for pronation or supination--go to a real running store, not a big box store for this. Folks there are very helpful and knowledgeable.

    Yes, when I checked my friend's list, I found that most of the DWD leaders were not on there. Of course, I wanted to 'fix' that...LOL. So now, I am 'officially' friends with all of the other leaders. What a great feeling?
