I'm not terribly overweight (yet) but I am terribly out of shape. I gained a few pounds after quitting smoking last year and I have lead a sedimentary lifestyle for the past 10 years and need to get in shape. I am finally motivated and plan to stay motivated to eat a healthy vegetarian diet and get MOVING!

I have been a vegetarian for most of my life and have been vegan off and on for the past 3 years. I recently refreshed my memory about why I became vegen in the first place so I'm back to zero animal products and feel better for it. Sometimes I go through gluten free phases, but for now I am indulging.

I avoid the doctor or anything related to western medicine like the plague and choose to take care of things on my own whenever possible. When that doesn't work I do have a naturopathic doctor I can trust when necessary.

*Update 3/21/13 I'm happy to say that since I joined SparkPeople I have already noticed positive changes. My mood has elevated, my clothes are fitting better, I have energy to spare, I am sleeping like a rock and I am eating regular meals. I think I'll go eat something right now just so I can track it on my nutrition page!

Fitness Minutes: 17,045

My Goals:
1) To be able to walk naked without my my thighs rubbing and slowing me down!

2) Get back into all those jeans I have stashed on the top shelf of my closet!

3) Maintain a healthy "diet" for all of my days.

4) Keep moving the way SparkPeople has taught me!!!

My Program:
Eat 1200 - 1500 calories daily within recommended nutrient ranges

Sleep 8 hours each night on a regular schedule

Wake up and comlete 30 - 45 minutes of cardio 5 - 6 days a week via elliptical trainer, recumbent bicycle or brisk walking, depending on the weather!

Strength train/tone 4 - 5 days a week with resistance moves, TotalGym and/or light weights.

On days I am pressed for time I use Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred workout DVD to cover cardio and toning. It only takes 30 minutes, burns about 400 calories (for me) and it's a great workout.

I'm a Nebraska girl transplanted in Arizona as of 1987.

I choose to eat organic and I WANT MY FOODS LABLED!

I have been a vegetarian for 25+ years and have been vegan off and on for the last 4.

I am married, have adult children and I work from home.

I enjoy red wine.

And I choose to be happy!

Other Information:
Tie dye is my favorite color, patchouli and wet dirt (from new rain) are my favorite scents and Rosemary Gladstar is one of my hero's.
