Last year was a slippery slide weight wise. I did not utilize Sparkpeople nearly at all and it shows. I remember how I felt after the first year I was using Spark and it felt great. I am going to remind myself how healthy and energized I was. Hopefully that will be the motivation I need to get back on track.

Oh and since I have found myself back to my old starting weight, maybe it was so I could get better "before" pictures. If I can stomach getting in front of a camera that is.

Two half marathons are already on the calendar, I have started tracking again, and now I need to start my fitness plan. Good luck to all this year!

Dec 30, 2010-
As the year ends it gives me time to reflect. Did I accomplish ALL I wanted to in 2010?, but there were some high points. The biggest one was the half marathon. I set my goal, I made a plan, I did the training, and I did it! It was such a great feeling. The big lesson will be that I failed to have another goal so the second half of the year I seemed to flounder.

This year will be different. I will learn from my mistakes and build on the positives.

Welcome 2011 and have a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Jan 1, 2010-

2010 is here! I have fallen "off the wagon" when it comes to my nutrition and fitness. I started this adventure with Sparkpeople back in January 2008 and by the end of the year I had lost 40 pounds and felt great. Well I lost my way this past year. I stopped tracking my food and working out. Needless to say I ended up gaining 20 pounds back, had to buy some "more comfortable" clothes, and to top it off, my cholesterol went back up and my doctor wants me to consider meds again.

Now it is time for the "bad" cycle to end. I will track my food everyday, make better food choices, drink mostly water, and work out at least 4 times a week. No one is going to make those changes for's all me.

I do happen to be very lucky to have a partner who is also using Sparkpeople. She is a great support and it doesn't hurt that she is also the cook (a good one at that).

So again, welcome 2010 and the re-start of our Healthy and Fit lifestyle.

My Program:
I have registered again for the Pittsburgh half marathon, this time with my partner so training with her will add a different twist. Someone to make sure I don't "slack" in training and we can support each other...yay! Also signed up for the Just a Short Run in March...helpful for the training AND meet some other fellow Sparkers...double yay! I will sign-up for another half marathon toward the end of the year this time to slouch off.

I've set "other" goals in Sparkpeople to keep me on track. This year I will work on the nutrition end (gotta get that cholesterol back down) and do a better job of strength training with a focus on strengthening the smaller muscles around the joints---gotta keep running.
