I joined SparkPeople in 2011, and here it is 2017. Six years of trying to get it right and six years of failures. It has been a long and bumpy roller coaster for me. But now I am finally on the right track.

There are no excuses, I would just quit. My eating habits never really changed from eating junk food to healthy food. I just tried to exercise the fat away. I would always jump in with both feet and do good for a few weeks, then give up.

Tracking food was not a strong point for me, did not like doing it and found it bothersome to always have to write it down. Another downside was that I didn't weigh my food, I just guessed about the portions, and yes, I did fudge the portions some.

Exercise has never been one of my favorite things to do. Although I joined a gym and spent an hour there every day on my way home from work, all I really did was walk on the treadmill. Occasionally I would use a few of the weight machines. Looking back now, I believe that I was going to the gym because deep down I didn't want to go home to an empty marriage, so exercise was an outlet for me. The downside was that the more I exercised the more I thought I could eat whatever I wanted because I was exercising.

This last year I have devoted myself to getting healthy. My food choices have changed dramatically. I am eating healthy food. No more junk food or sweets. When I did my grocery shopping last week, the cashier was a young gentleman of about 19 or 20. He rang up my groceries and said "Wow, all you have are lots of fresh vegetables and fruits." I had not realized that everything in my cart was I guess it really has become a habit. That was certainly a proud moment for me!

My goal is to become healthier and more fit, which will allow me to be the best that I can be.

Eat healthy, don't skip meals, drink more water, exercise.

Lived in Pennsylvania for many years. Needed a change so packed up and moved to Texas. Visited the area a few years ago and really liked it, so decided it would be a good place to start over. Love the hot more cold and snow for me. I write poetry, and had my first book published in 2006. Enjoy spending time with family and friends and my rescue cat Daisy.

    Thanks for commenting on my "Pity Party" blog. I appreciate the support and encouragement. I got lots of great feedback and it has given me plenty to think about and consider.     Thank you for commenting on my blog. And for adding me as a friend. I added you too. And church was amazing! I am so glad it's bedtime and I can read, play my Nintendo 3DS game, or just go to sleep. And of course, I get to cuddle with my toddler. One of my favorite parts of being a mommy.
