This is me in June 2009. I was about 163 here too. Btw, I'm 5'1" if I haven't mentioned this before.

I'm a married mother of two girls. I started my journey to a new, healthier body on Jan 18, 2010 by joining U Weight Loss.

I have also been weight conscious. I was not a fat or overweight child, but my mom described me as built like a brick s**thouse. I was just always solid. I started out a little heavy in high school, but the more active I got, the leaner I got. I could eat anything pretty much and I would burn it off. When I graduated, I was 108 lbs. The year after I graduated, I gained 30 lbs. I continued to eat like I did in high school, I ignored the fact that I wasn't as active so the pounds stuck.

I seemed to stick around that weight range for the next few years, but after having a child, I found myself at the 150-160 lbs range. My child was about to turn 1 and my boyfriend and I realized we needed to breakup. In less than a year, I was back down to the 130 lbs range. It was amazing to see what getting rid of a little stress can do for your body.

I still didn't get smart on this and I continued to eat whatever I wanted. The pounds started creeping back on and before I knew it, I was at about 145 lbs. I finally started going to the gym in 2000. It was great and I felt great. I would go every day after work for a hour before I would pick my daughter up from daycare. It was my decompression time. My weight went down again and I was maintaining it around 130 lbs again, but I still wasn't watching what I was eating.

Then I laid off from my job and I moved to another city to look for more opportunities for my daughter and I. This was in 2003. Shortly after moving I met my soul mate, David. I know, it sounds corny. I wasn't as active after we moved and again, the weight crept back on. By the time we married in 2005, I was back around 150 lbs. The weight has continued to creep on me. Although during my second pregnancy in 2007, I only gained 15 lbs.

Finally I stepped on the scale after Christmas in 2009 and found that I was at 173 lbs. I am only 5'1" and my frame is not meant to hold this weight. My feet had started to ache too. My doctor had also told me that my bad cholesterol is a little high.

So now I'm on my way to a new body...

    Hey girlie! Sorry to hear you've been so sick, but at least you're on the mend. And woo-hoo for not gaining anything! I'm struggling myself right now, stress-related stuff. Today I hit the mental "reset" button and am following the program to a T so that I can get back on track. I've started taking my flax seed oil again and it seems to be controlling my appetite and cravings, so that's good. I really need to get myself a new pair of running shoes since I really want to start "learning to run". Right now I walk, but it's not fast enough. Ha ha ha! Anyway, I hope the meds are working for you and you're back to good health very soon!

    Hi there! I was creeping your page and I thought "wow, we have such similar goals and similar stories". I'm 5'1 and when I started my journey I was 175 lbs! Good luck, you're doing great :)
