Hi. My name is Jackie, and it's time to get healthy!

In 2006, I followed a national diet program, a walking program (I walked more than 2 MILLION steps!) and a weight training program, and lost nearly 80 pounds to get to my goal weight. Unfortunately, I did not make the necessary lifestyle changes, and back came the pounds (nearly all of them), the muscle stiffness, the lethargy, the overeating. You know the story.

So in 2010, I tried again, with a healthier national diet program (the one where you count points) and lost the weight again. I felt great, but again for some reason I abandoned any discipline at all. It took two years, but I gained it all back again.

This time, I'm hoping it will be different. I'm back on track with a healthy eating plan as well as an exercise plan, but this time I also have the tools and support on SparkPeople. Sounds trite, but this is just what I needed. I like to have fun, and these tools are fun. I know myself- I will do things only as long as they are fun. :-)

Long ago (31 years, to be exact), I married a professional magician and magic became my life. It would be great if we could just wave a magic wand and make the pounds disappear, or get heathier instantly. Truthfully, we all have the magic right here on this site. We just need to be brave enough to use it.

My Goals:
I'd like to be able to walk up stairs without puffing, get up off the sofa without using my hands, run with my dogs- yes, I'd even like to see my feet!

My Program:
First and foremost, I am using the journaling and tracking tools here. For an eating program, I am following Jenny Craig. For exercise, I am using a pedometer to build to an ongoing daily goal of walking 10,000 steps per day. I am also using my library of exercise books (don't we all have them!) to follow a flexible program of weight training exercises. And, of course, I have a support system of friends to cheer me on, as well as a supportive husband who takes daily 20-minute walks with me.

    Hey Skinny.....thanks for adding a nice comment on my Spark page. It looks like you are doing great. You know you can do you have done it before. I have also gone to different diet places and paid "big money"......but I am finding this Spark site is helping me more than anything else ever has. This site is so full of information. I find new stuff all the time on it. I actually joined Spark a year or so ago....but did not do anything on it. The first of this year, I set up my Spark page and started recording things, etc.....and the weight just seems to drop off. Let's keep in contact and get this weight off in 2008. WE CAN DO IT!
