Here's to a fresh start and to a new year. I need to live in the present and not get discouraged from past mistakes or intimidated by impressive accomplishments holding the bar too high.

Today my challenges are no different from those aging and dealing with life. Keeping my thoughts elevated to a positive place and encouraging myself to do more today than I can remember doing the day before.

It helps to look at a short window of only a couple of days so if I feel I really did not do well those days it is easier to get back the momentum lost knowing I can and will really improve today compared to the last day I felt failure and wanted to give up. So instead of feeling mediocre I feel amazingly good that I made an accomplishment hanging in there. Today I will add steps to everything I do. I will take the scenic route and enjoy the walk.

By adjusting my momentum ever so slightly increasing my mobility little by little I find I am less sedentary and more mobile. Mobility for me is huge in keeping the weight off and encouraging me to lose the excess weight. It doesn't replace the 1/2 pound of muscle loss due to aging but the gained energy and increased flexibility from moving more makes it possible to do the exercises to build the muscle lost.

Some things I learned about myself through this road of getting my life back: The more I get up and move, the better I eat. The better I eat, the more energy I have to control my weight loss and get physically fit. The less I do, the worse I eat. The worse I eat, the less I do. So for me there is a direct relationship between my brains function telling me what foods to eat based on my activity and exercise.

I found: SUGAR - causes cravings to eat and not feel full, so I have to really watch it!

My Goal for 2013 is to change my Sedentary Lifestyle to an Active Lifestyle. Less time sitting at Computer. Set a Timer. Reduce Email Subscriptions. Less Procrastination. Handle papers once. Read it Now or File it! Shred it! Toss it! No Stacking!

Perhaps every month should be a new focus to keep my lifestyle on track. No specific weight loss goals this year. No Pressure. But I know that if I can become less sedentary, the results will weigh in helping me look and feel my best.
