I am a 31 year-old mathematician, married, and have been overweight my entire life. I guess I should really ask my mother if that's true. Growing up, I was an avid camper and did some backpaking, but I started losing energy around college age. That's when I really got out of shape.

Due to professional considerations, I've had to move frequently, and have lived in four different states in the last decade. I'm really hoping to settle down soon.

I am on cholesterol medication and antidepressants. I am very worried about heart disease, diabetes and other obesity related illnesses, which I do seem to have in my family history, so hope that this time I can get the weight off and keep it off.

My Goals:
I would like to:

Get out of the "obese" category.

Get off cholesterol medication (may be an impossible goal).

Increase my walking ability so that 10 miles a day isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Start backpacking again.

My Program:
Portion control is key for me. I'm trying to record everything I eat and NOT eat everything on my plate at a restaurant. I am also making an effort to keep my sodium intake in the recommended range (which is hard). I am also keeping water in easy reach at all times.

I'm trying to be consistent with exercise. This includes walking to and from work and exercise videos. I have a pedometer, and am increasing my step goal. As of Nov 1, 2010, my step goal is 7500 steps per day. I am also giving myself periodic "weekend challenges" for getting well over my daily goals. To get back to backpacking, these weekend goals will gradually increase. In addition, I enjoy water aerobics so have added the one exercise class to my schedule.

Personal Information:
I grew up in Southern California and currently reside in the DC area of Maryland. I am a mathematician by training and inclination. I go by Lizz in real life.

emoticon Yay, thanks for joining in the November pedometer/cardio/healthy habit challenge for Slowest Losers.
I see you from what you've got logged in you were making progress with your steps and getting those bootcamp workouts in. How are you doing with the apple & banana a day goal?

Just a reminder- somehow the month of November is flying by so make sure to stop in and log in more of your stats if you have them. If not, just log in where you start up once again and move forward.

Hope you have a game plan for next week. Me, I will be moving in the kitchen, taking some walks if I can, and the leaves keep falling so there is always raking, right.

Thanks for the well wishes for my Tigger. She is doing better. I guess they can test for cancer, that's what the vet said. You know I read the Laxatone ingredients & the first was vaseline, makes you wonder if a little vaseline every now & then could cure the hairball chaos. I hope your kitty's are well. emoticon

Thanks again for visiting my Blog. I have 12 and 3 more in my boyfriends mill that we feed and keep warm. Plus there are a couple more that we feed that we haven't been able to approach yet. The last one we rescued is a little female money cat she has one blue eye and one yellow one. Someone just dumped her out across the road. I think the word is out that I feed them and take them in. I can't stand to see an animal go hungry and sick. I get them neutered as soon as I can afford to. I've had some help from the state with that, but they will only do so much and the shelters are so over whelmed. Oh well, we do what we can.

Good for you Silverhawk. You'll be ready for a 5 k before you know it. I used to run them alot, they are so much fun. Then I got sick and had to give it up. Now I'm working my self slowly back into it. I know we can do it. Keep me posted on your progress.
