I retired as a teacher in 2004. My husband, who was an architect, chose to buy a property in Malta as a retirement home/project. We loved it there.
Sadly he began t00 feel that he was no longer able to carry out the various improvements to the house which he had planned. Endless consultaions with drs and Consultants ensued. No -one knew exactly what the problem was.
He felt worse and worse. Then our daughter announced that she was going to be married. We had met her fiance, we liked him a lot. Problem was that my husband was so scared/unwell/ he did not want to leave Malta for UK even for his own daughter's wedding. It took me a lot of persuasion to get him there. In the event he loved the cottage I rented-deer coming to graze outside etc-

He rehearsed his Father of the bride Speech endlessly and was considered brilliant at the actual occasion.
He then chose to return to Malta but had to take with him a rather expensive machine to help him breathe.
Sadly by the begining of 2009 he was advised by his consultant to go to UK where he cld get better treatment. The consultant advised us after our last consultation that we needed to go back to UK asap otherwise he wld not be able to sign the medical papers allowing extra medical help.
Air Malta were extremely helpful. We left within 2 weeks with one suitcase each (after 6 years) plus my husband's breathing machine. They had oxygen on board in case of emergency.
I had organised a taxi to take us to my tiny house. That went well. Then I looked after my husband until on 26th April2010 he called me and I realised I had to call the ambulance as he was in a really bad way. The day before our daughterand her husband had run the London Marathon for him and had raised £2000 plus for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. It was almost as if he had decided to die after Annelise ans Steve had achieved what they had set out to do

Beautiful Woman Award! Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the wall of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out"

    Hi Anne,

I hope you are doing well and catching up on all of your paperwork, etc. Have a wonderful holiday. Please send me your postal address, as I would like to send you a Christmas card. You could send it here or as a message on FB, or to, which is my regular email address.
    Thanks. emoticon

WOW I have not been on the site regularly because of no internet in the barn. I was sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. ALS robs much but I pray you and your family will be given strength. Love is eternal.

I am glad that you are able to get wee bits of food in even though all of the emotions you are feeling are so raw. I hope that you are able to find something that you can stomach soon to keep your strength up. Thinking of you, Yas x
