Despite my obstacles, I am determined to DO IT this time! I have avascular necrosis of my hip and am very limited in my mobility. The necrosis is caused by Lupus - and there are many other side effects because of this awful disease. To name another: arthritis, fibromyalgia, fatigue, and then some.

I had been limited to just swimming because of this. Well when I finally got inspired to come back, the pool was closed and for a few weeks at that. I decided to go against Docs advice and go to the gym and workout on the treadmill and elliptical. My hip is holding up well and I am gaining strength. I feel GREAT and it has only been a week and a half!

I am also learning to combat cravings and temptations. Also I am learning if I mess up, just get back on track. It is crazy to STAY messed up when I can just get up and move on - another step closer to the NEW me, or shall I say the REAL ME.

At this early stage I am also learning more about emotional and stress eating and I am trying to program my body and mind for alternatives.

Well the journey begins.....

***There are no limits. It is only ME that can limit myself.

***If I mess up, start all over. Tomorrow is a new day and another chance.

***This is a DAILY journey. If we only have our goal weight in mind we miss out on the little lessons and milestones along the way. I had to learn to stop and smell the roses and also to listen to my own heart beat (within my soul). It's not about shedding the pounds but about shedding other stuff so I can reach closer into my soul and be who God created me to be.

***I actually enjoy exercise as a daily routine. It used to seem like a chore but as I made a decision to evercome physical obtacles I have a deeper appreciation that my body can still function and that I have mobility. Even as the Bible states: strengthen what remains. I stopped focusing on what I can't do and I focus on what I can do.

My Goals:
SHORT TERM : lose 2 lbs a week, possibly 10 pounds per month.

LONG TERM: lose 80 pounds.

FITNESS GOALS: swim and or use (ellptical) 4-5 days a week.

HEALTH GOALS: To be able to safely go off of my diabetes meds. To feel less pain of arthritis and other aches due to Lupus.

PERSONAL GOALS: to feel better in general about myself.

My Program:
BREAKFAST 1 protein shake
LUNCH 1 protein shake

DINNER - sensible dinner like lean cuisine

SNACKS : 3 -4 (100 calorie ) snacks per day.

WEEKENDS : allow some freedom for pizza or chinese or something.

FITNESS: swim and or Elliptical combo (4 to 5 times a week)

I live in sunny FLorida (home of many beautiful beaches) but I am originally from Boston, MA home of the World Series Champs the Boston Red Sox! I love both Boston and Florida.

Other Information:
Lately I am loving to work out to a blast of the past: 80's R&B like Lisa Lisa, New Edition, Bobby Brown, Salt n Pepa.... I am having so much fun!

    Your welcome.. YES baby steps lead to bigger ones. I lost my weight slowly. I believe thats the reason why Ive kept it off & I can improve what I have now. Heck sence I upped my fiber the weight has been falling off of me!.. I swear by it!!.. Im here for you all the way.. YOU CAN DO IT!! Get Healthy!!.. Thanks & have a great day..
