I have had to hit the restart button a few times but at least I have not quit. My pattern over the past years is to start diets, lose weight, quit diets, gain weight (plus some)!
No more of that. I am learning so much through Spark and figuring out what NOT to do and one not to do is go on "diets"!

UPDATE: 8-1-11... after losing 50 lbs and then gaining 15 back over a 5 month period... I was working on getting that 15 off and them my Mom got very sick April 2011. I was with her almost daily for 3 months... worrying, stressing, praying, caregiving, managing her bills and finances, and still taking care of my family too.
NO EXCUSES... just the facts.... I let all the stress take me back to my old ways and habits... and gained back 20 more lbs...
YES... I did.. and now it is time to get it all back off!.

The old me would have quit trying and just kept gaining... and then waited a yr. or two before attempting weight loss again.

THE NEW ME says... 'Get this car out of the ditch and turn it back around"... so that is what I did on 7-24.

HERE is a little about my spark journey since I joined May 09. I lost 20 lbs in 6 wks following the spark way and logging in all that I ate. (no exercise for 5 wks; then I did start walking 1-3 miles a day)..I did do some low carb eating for a few weeks too.

Then I just quit logging and eventually quit walking and I slowly gained 16 lbs back!! (this is my normal story for 20 years so I think I expect that of myself and sabotage myself with this way of thinking.)

SO Here I am again on 12-18 BUT:
I am joining challenges to be accountable.

I am logging food and doing this as a life change, not a diet.
I am wanting to feel better and be at my ideal weight and "Live" my life.

I realize for sure this one thing that I think is the key to my success: my obstacles are "MENTAL".... my way of thinking must change and the body will follow.

I also realize this: The wanting it yesterday attitude must go, the wanting a quick weight loss metality must go, the all or nothing attitude must go (because I will mess up but I have to just get back on track and get back in the game not throw up my hands and quit like a 2 yr. old!) I usually quit when I get off track and there you go...... out of the game!!

List of reasons to lose weight:
1. I want to wear normal size clothing, stylish clothing, not shirts covering my butt, and baggy clothes.
2. I want to move around comfortably with out this big gut cutting off my wind.
3. I want to feel better about myself and like the size I am.
4. I want to go places and feel comfortable when I see people I know. Right now I am embarassed and want to avoid going out anywhere.
5. I want to wear shorts in public again.
6. I want to pick anything out of my closet and put it on and know it will look good.
7. I want to own 5 pair of jeans that fit me and not be limited to 1 pair.
8.I want to wear more stylish clothes.
9. I want to wear size 10's. I am 5 ft. 6 in.
10. I want to wear med. shirts.
11. I want to wear a swimsuit here at home in my own pool and feel good about myself. Obviously wearing one in public would be nice too. LOL

My attempt to stop gaining only last a few days... I am an Emotional eater and discovered more about this and why I am doing it...

My Goals:
To Feel better emotionally and physically.

~To be healthier by eating healthier and keeping processed/junk food to a minimum.
UPDATE: 1/14/10 Doing this really well and I love the healthier food.
~To keep my diet soda to no more than 2 per day.

Update 6/7/10 NO diet sodas only water now

UPDATE 7/24/10: I gave up all white flour and sugar. I feel amazing 1 month later. Cravings for this stuff stopped after 3 days.

UPDATE 9-24-10: 2 mos on this plan I am down 23 lbs! See blog dated 9-17 for the plan. I also started a private group/team for those eating this way!

My Program:
On 7-24-10 I am now doing a new program.
I gave up processed sugar and white flour because I have learned that stuff triggers me to overeat.. I wanted to munch all of my calores up for the day eating this stuff.
I have lost 4 lbs my first week doing this...
I lost 5 my next week 8-6-10. I lost 5 more my next 2 wks 14 lost in 1 month.
I continued this plan and lost down to 169.
I went back to my old ways around Dec-2010 and by March I put back on 19 lbs..
I learned I am an EMOTIONAL EATER and due to some major stress issues.. I was feeding... on junk and slowly gaining back some weight and to be honest at that time I DIDN'T CARE. This is true...just bad attitude... and even depressed...

End of March 2011
I stopped all this destruction and woke up!
I started back on the eating plan.. I blogged about 9-17 and get this: IMMEDIATELY the depression lifted.. LOL Sugar and flour.. make me feel down... depressed.. and make me GRAZE all day.. not bing

Personal Information:
My name is Sherlyn. I live in Arkansas. I am married for over 20 years and have 4 boys, 5 counting my husband. LOL I'm sure some of you can relate to that comment. LOL

I have 2 married sons so therefore 2 daughter in laws. I also have 2 grandbabies. Grandson is 2 yrs old. Granddaughter is 3 yrs. I also have 2 sons at home; 1 son that is 19 and 1 that is 10.

I am 5'6" and my highest weight was 221 last May-09.
I wore size 20 for the most part. It is big in the waist but fits everywhere else.
Update 1-29-10: I wear a size 18 now.
Update 2-19-10: My 18's are baggy. I bought my first 16's... yay!
Started new eating plan 7-24.
8/15/10 My 16's are baggy. Wearing some 14's.
9/20/10: My 14's are all baggy, can wear some 12's!
10/23/10: My 12's are baggy now.
I REACHED 50 lbs lost on this date 10/23/10!!!
