I'm a 30 year old female from the midwest who is looking to take control of her life one step at a time.

Other then my lack of discipline concerning my weight, I am blessed. With my husband's support, I quit my job a few months ago to make some much needed changes in my life. I love teaching, but at the end of the day I never seemed to have time to take care of myself. This break from work is a chance to allow myself to do things I have put off way too long. I need more hobbies (I am currently taking a sewing class and learning to quilt! I am also starting a novel), I need to find ways to relieve stress instead of bottling it up (harder than I ever imagined possible!) and I need to learn how to keep things on a routine so I never get overwhelmed ( here I come!).

The next step is to take my weight seriously. I was diagnosed with PCOS last December and need to eat healthier, move more and lose some weight. It's time to start, one day at a time.

Fitness Minutes: 72

My Goals:
*Eat whole foods whenever possible.
*Experience a new dish or ingredient every week
*Lose 30 pounds (to a healthy bmi!)
*Learn to put myself first without guilt
*Exercise twice a week.

My Program:
1. Eat 3 healthy meals and two snacks day.
2. Eat whole food whenever possible
3. Find ways to deal with stress without over eating.
4. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
5. Control portion sizes. Just because my husband can eat anything he wants doesn't mean I can!

My name is Shelly and I am a super star. No really. I am. I'm just incognito.

Other Information:
I love watching movies and playing video games. Where ever I go, I always have a book with me so I can read when I have down time. I am trying to teach myself to play the piano. So far I am half way through the first lesson book and it's going pretty well!

    Thanks for the encouragement ! I hope you had a good day and that you are staying on track with your goals.
    I didn't exercise today, which is bad and I had a desert from Olive Garden, also bad...usually Olive Garden is a bad choice in general... :)

    Anyway, just to let you know a bit about me. I follow Weight Watchers and have lost almost 20 lbs. My goal is to lose roughly 100 lbs. and my time frame is...nothing. Whenever I set up a time frame, I doom myself to failure because I rarely make it, so I am just going with the flow and making lifestyle changes. It will take as long as it takes - which is a hard truth to accept when you just want all this fat off your body!!! :)

    Oh, by the way, other than teaching, I am a writer, of sorts. I am not published or anything, but I am definitely verbose - so I apologize in advance for any excessively long posts or emails. :)

    Anywho, that's a bit about me. Let me know about you and your goals and hopefully we can motivate each other to get there!

    I just recently got back into Sparkpeople and am excited to use it for support! :)
