January 2014
Here I go again... A recommitment to my health and to losing these 30 pounds, this time for real. No more excuses.

September 2012:
WOW! Can't believe I haven't updated in a year! I guess I've been busy bike riding, strengthening my core and exploring new foods!
A lot has happened in the past year, including:
- getting a real handle on my binge and compulsive eating
- chronic migraines becoming not so chronic
- being diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back making my goals of running a half marathon a distant dream
- Realizing I really enjoy bike riding and now riding my bike to and from work several times a week
- Finding a group exercise class I REALLY LOVE: a ballet barre and pilates mix... Seriously amazing
- I have lost 16 pounds since this time last year... pretty substantial for me who has always yo-yo-ed with crazy restrictive diets
- Am Now within 13 pounds of being in the healthy BMI range for my height of 5'7"

I am really going to push myself to be consistent with expending more calories than I consume so that I reach 157 during BLC 20.. It's so close I can taste it!

September 2011:
Having maintained over the spring and summer, I am ready to kick things up a notch and apply principles from various programs to get the results I am ready for. Eat when hungry. Stop when full. Pay attention to the food not be distracted while eating. Get in my protein. Eat hearty carbs. Stay in my very reasonable calorie range. Not feel guilty about ice cream or other treats. Pay attention to portions: measure and weigh and ENJOY!
Committing to a streak of 10 minutes a day of some sort of fitness... even if I have a migraine, for the next 12 weeks.

Round 17 of BLC, Here I come!

April 27, 2011:
Having fallen into a pit of loathing and binging and rebelling I have hit diet rock bottom. I am exploring ways of healing my realtionship with food and my body, specifically Intuitive Eating. To read more about said pit and relationship and program please read my blogs starting at Slippery Slope!

March 23, 2001:
Sooo, round 15 of BLC didn't go quite as planned scale wise, however, I've grown in other incredible ways and am down 1.5 pounds with 1 week left to go! I feel stronger, more motivated, and more confident than EVER before! Without all the love and support from the whole BLC family, the whole spark family, and my friends, family, and husband, I would have given up a long time ago! I am so excited and determined to run my first 1/2 marathon, the Providence Rock N' roll, on August 7th! Even my husband who "hates" running has been joining me on my shorter runs. (I'll turn him into a lover!)

We also have a new strength training routine: a rotation of heavy, moderate, and so-called light days. I really like mixing it up and sometimes we through it together once we're out in the garage, just mkaing sure we have chest, back, legs, abs, and arms all included. We have yet to create an easy routine.

I am once again re-starting Conquer the Fat Loss Code by Wendy Chant and this time will follow it through the 8 weeks, bring me to May15th. Even if I have an off day or two, it doesn't mean I've blown the whole program. One of the MOST IMPORTANT things I've learned is to not wait until Monday, or, next week, or the next round of BLC to restart. Today is the day! If I fall off at breakfast, eat well the rest of the day. If today stunk. Restart tomorrow.

Although I try not to let the scale dictate my moods or feelings of self-worth, I can't wait to see 175, which is the lowest I've been in 2 years!

January 2011: As the 15th round of the biggest loser challenge takes off, I am determined to shed 20 pounds by week 12, March 30th. This is quite the lofty goal for me, but I am SICK of starting and restarting. If I had stuck to a plan 3 years ago it would be DONE!! I have crafted some nonscale goals for the 12 weeks as well. I am very excited to be a member of the Silver Spies, who are super chatty and active. Many of my team mates have similar goals and programs. (I do also miss my bombshells though! xo)

I want 2011 to be my healthiest, strongest, and happiest year yet!

December 2010 Update:
Just wrapped up the Biggest Loser Challenge 14 and feel pretty darn great about myself! In the past 12 weeks, I've lost 7 pounds and 8.5 inches. I am now a co-activity guide for the tropical get-a-weigh challenge with the BLC. This will ensure I'm checking in and posting which really helps me stay accountable!

I have been consistent with running and strength training but still struggle with my will power over food. I know what's good and I know what makes me feel good and yucky, but still struggle with saying no! unless I'm on a strict plan like SB phase 1. I know I just need to keep on trucking and tracking and the will power will strengthen, just like my muscles from lifting weights! there are about 3 weeks left in 2010 and I'd like to go out on a high note and lose 2.5 more pounds bringing me to 175, the lowest I've been in a LONG time! Looking forward to wrapping up this year and ringing in 2011!

September 2010 Update:
For the past 7 months I have been struggling to even maintain my weight. The scale just keeps bouncing between the same 10 pounds. My new challenge is to focus on NON SCALE goals. I have struggled with staying consistent both with fitness routines and mostly with a nutrition plan. My new focus as of this month: to start loving myself and feeling good in my own skin. I will no longer be a slave to my scale and will only weigh in once a week for the purposes of my Biggest Loser 14 Challenge!

TO: workout 5-6 days of the week
TO run the entire race of the Devil's Chase in Salem, MA on Halloween (6.66 miles)
TO complete 1 full pull up unassisted
TO hold plank for 1 whole minute
To squeeze out 15 push ups DONE!!!
TO Strength train and use kettle bells 2- 3 times a week : DONE consistently

Eat mainly organic and nutritionally dense foods
Stay in my calories range at about 1600 calories a day

To start seeing my reflection and saying a positive comment to what I see.
To continue to make time in my sewing room, for me.
To stop beating myself up when i have a binge or don't workout. Just jump back on!

GOAL: 174 Lost a total of 7 pounds and 8.5 inches the past 12 weeks!
I have started and restarted and restarted too many times to count! After staying steady between 165 and 170 for a couple of years I had some incredible life changes such as quitting smoking, buying a house with my boyfriend, beginning to teach a new grade level and subject area that exercise went out the window. I had periods where I was committed and ate right so was able to maintain for a bit, but I stepped on the scale earlier this week and I was at my highest weight ever of 185. I am not only disappointed with myself because of the weight gain but also the loss of strength and endurance I had built up from training for a 5K in September and boot-camp over the summer until I moved in October. I was up to 11 "real" push ups and can hardly eeeek one out now.

SO, here I am again. I have set up my punching bag in the basement and have a decent home gym set up in the garage. I am going to give this my all and be honest with how I am FEELING.

I want to FEEL good in my own skin again and that's how I felt when I was running and lifting. So, here I go again, hopefully, for the last time.
