The journey continues...
Life is what you make of it, or so I've heard.
"You are what you eat"
Get up on your feet!
The concern is great, I never knew you cared!
Fact is, I've spent too long
Doing things I shouldn't.
Though I try to change those habits,
I go back to the same old song.
Chaotic eating ruled by the heart
All too often.
As for exercise,
I don't know where to start!

Just a short attempt at poetry to express where I am at on my journey right now, as we come to the end of May 2017.
I've also updated my goals and program details below to reflect my new focus - my health! The only numbers I am concerned with are my blood pressure reading and the number of freggies I consume each day :)
Thank you to all of my spark friends for your continued support. I would be lost without you guys - keep sparking!
Update 6th August 2017:
Things have gone drastically wrong in the last few months and I have gained around 5lbs. I don't feel well with it and I need to get back on track, but life brings other priorities to the table. I want to reach 199lbs by New Year, but it's going to be a tall order now. I will not give up though!
Update 1st November 2017:
My revised goal is to end the year lighter than I started it - that won't be as easy as it should be! I have joined the 10k steps a day team though, so I am hoping that increasing my steps will be a big help. I need to work on my nutrition though, there's no hiding from that!
Update 18th May 2018:
This year so far has consisted of a diagnosis of gallstones, a drastic change of diet, loss of around 13lbs, 2 changes to my job role and basically nothing else has changed!
I have recently come to realise that I need to stop planning and start doing, so that is my new challenge. Hopefully my next update will have lots more positives to share!
Update 7th October 2018:
In the last quarter (July - September) I had a good stint of calorie counting which helped me to control my eating enough to lose 7lbs. I'm hoping that a slow rate of loss will lead to keeping the weight off long term, so I am not worried as long as I have a downward trend.
These last few pounds seem to have made a lot of difference to my body confidence and I am feeling much better in my own skin and more confident in my ability to achieve my long term goals, which really helps me get through each day!
Update December 2019:
After the weight loss success last year, this year has been a bit of a non-event. I will be happy if I end the year lighter than I started it, but it's going to be close! I am trying to give more time to other areas of my health, so hopefully I will feel better in myself and can go into the new year feeling more confident in my abilities. I am going to review my goals below, but I am sure they won't need to change a great deal, if at all. My overall health is my main priority.
Update 24th April 2020:
This year has definitely turned out differently to how I expected, probably to how anyone expected! Had a great holiday in January but got into bad habits of eating way too much and never really shook them off. Just when I might have had a chance mentally, Covid-19 made an appearance and became a worldwide pandemic, forcing much of the world to work from home and self isolate. As an asthmatic, I am on the vulnerable people list, so I am WFH and rarely leave the house at all. It's taken a month to realise this is affecting my health to the detriment. Today is the turning point! Getting back to my goals below and going to end the year strong!

My Goals:
1. Reduce blood pressure medication.
2. Eliminate breathlessness caused by ascending a staircase.
3. Improve mental health / self esteem / self loving.
4. Learn to fuel my body effectively.
My Program:
1. Reduce salt intake / increase potassium & generally nutritious foods.
2. Use the stairs more often to improve stamina & do regular cardio exercise.
3. Regular strength training to relieve stress & improve body composition.
4. Eat more healthily and minimise foods that trigger gallstones / IBS symptoms.
Personal Information:
I'm Chelle (pronounced shell). I am married with no children or pets. I work 30h/week at a desk. I work for our holidays - I'm blessed to get abroad twice a year. I'm not a fan of housework but I am trying to get better at it! I also want to learn to cook more from scratch. Now into my 40s, I am still learning to be a well-rounded adult!
