Hi, my name is Shanique. I live in New Paltz New York, and I am the mother of two absolutely fabulous children. They are my world. I am a single mom, with quite a demanding job. Trying to balance two kids and work sometimes poses a challenge but it's the life I chose and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Being able to watch your children grow is one of the greatest gifts that a parent can have. I want to learn to live a healthy lifestyle so that I can do just that. It's so amazing to watch your children go from these tiny little babies who squirm around and cry all the time to these unique individuals with interesting little personalities all their own. When I look at my two kids I marvel at how they are growing. The simple fact that I created (with God's help, LOL!) these humans that live and breath! Absolutely amazing! Nonetheless, they are truly a large part of my motivation to be healthy. I want to see what they are like as adults and have the opportunity to suppport them throughout most of life's challenges and blessings. Being healthy leads to happiness all around and that's my goal.

In the same vein, I have one of the best jobs in the world. Everyday I am blessed with the opportunity to give back and support children in a profound way. I am the Dean of Students at a charter school. When I was a child I didn't have much, I sure didn't have parental support. It is a miracle that I managed to be the upstanding citizen that I am. I know that that is due in large part to the quality education I received. Everyday, I have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child and to be the support that I wish I had to children growing up in disadvantaged communities. I love it!

At the end of the day, I can't be the best person I need to be to my children and the children at my school, or even to myself if I am not healthy and so begins my spark journey. I know it's going to be hardwork, I know it is going to wear at my nerves at times but I've got to do it, so here I go!

Develop healthier eating habits

Exercise at least once a day/6 days a week

My Program:
To reach my goals I do walking videos and TurboFire, Les Mills Pump, 10 min. trainer, and I love the treadmill and the elliptical. Sometimes I go on walks with the fam as well.
