Changing my Life
After a number of starts and tapering off, I am back on track - the difference this time is my mind. Something is different. There have been a number of times when I said "NO MORE!" But this time? I'm not sure what the difference was - more aware? More willing to accept responsibility in a very real and profound way?

In February of 2012, I cried in my doctor's office as we discussed my need for cholesterol medicine. I had refused several years ago to start taking them because we were open to having more children, and statins have a great risk of birth defects. But, I don't have more children. And these past years I could have been taking a drug that would have helped control a serious health concern.
After leaving his office, I realized that I am the only one who can improve my health. Maybe if I had, we would have more children by now. Maybe if I had, I wouldn't be on the cusp of 37 years old and just beginning to get this under control. My dad, who was not obese, died at age 38+2 months due to arterial disease. I have been slowly killing myself. And that became a reality in a new way in February. I have allowed this poor health to affect me and my family for the past 12+ years.
And I am the only one who can change it.
And I am.

Tracking my food intake again and making sure I eat an appropriate amount of fruits and veggies. This made such a difference when I followed these steps before.
