I'm 47 years old with a twenty year old daughter. I have been a single mother for many years and always put my daughter first (no regrets!). My daughter is grown. I am recently married (to a guy better then my dream guy - someone who actually loves me for me - never thought it would happen for me).
It is time for me!! I am going to take the time for myself - to exercise, lose those extra pounds and feel good again.
My weight has been up and down for years but the last several years the pounds just started to pack on (50 lbs. oh boy)
I lost 30 pounds with diet and exercise prior to joining Spark People. I am hoping to lose another 20 pounds and keep it off for good!

My Goals:
For the longest time my goal has been 'weight loss'. I have felt like a failure because my weight has been steady but I am losing inches.
My current goals are:
1. To be healthy and fit.
2. To love myself.

My Program:
I log the food that goes in - which is a real eye-opener! (though the last couple of weeks have been hard). Get at least 8 glasses of water in everyday. Exercise 4-5 days a week (which means either going to the gym or running a 3 mile course). Biggest thing is just changing the whole lifestyle. This is not a 'diet' but just the way that I need to eat all the time. I also have been fortunate to spend the money on a personal trainer - someone who will push me, shows me the proper way to do different exercises and added much variety to my workouts.

Personal Information:
I live in Bel Air, Maryland. I am a clinical nurse specialist. I love football (Go Ravens!), the outdoors and animals. I have 2 dogs (a chocolate lab and an Australian shepard) and 2 cats.

Other Information:
I don't watch much TV but if I turn it on before I go to bed then I'm watching History or Science Channel, Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow.
SP website with articles and each person's story is helping to stay motivated and on track. I don't feel alone with this journey. Thanks to all who share their stories!

    Oh boy! You don't have to worry about me with water + microwave ANYMORE. Heck no! You know it's so funny because I have done that so many times before and this was the first anything like this ever happened. I was boiling water for my oatmeal. I was in my office, so there is no stove. I almost always do this in the mornings that I am running late and eat breakfast at the office. Not anymore. I miss it already. It was so convenient.

    Hey Sue! Had enough of the snow yet? lol

    I've been down for the past couple of days. Not down as in emotions but down, unable to do anything. On Monday, I suffered 2nd degree burns on my right hand. I was removing water from the microwave that I had boiled. In the process of taking it out of the microwave, it exploded out of the container onto my hand. Ouch! Needless to say, I went to the ER. The burn didn't stop until 4 the next morning....oh yeah, the burn happened at 9:30 a.m.

    This will be a repost to my friends' pages.
