Hey there, nice to meet you! I'm Kate from Kuwait, and I'm a sailor and a diver. Sometimes I'm also a primary school teacher, but I'm having time out now...

This blog is intended to be a place where I capture moments of my life, and some of my thoughts! Although I joined SP in 2007, I only started writing this blog when I started doing my Master's Degree in e-learning in AUtumn 2010.

Last year I had a bad accident. That cost me 4 days in ICU, three weeks on the ward, and a further three weeks confined to bed. Then I had to have my kidney removed. That cost another few weeks in bed. Then, when I got home from work every day, I'd fall straight asleep, till hubby woke me at 7pm for my dinner. So, no teaching for a while, I'll just concentrate on self-improvement. And that includes getting rid of the excess weight I gained last year!

You commented on my page agreeing about my take on "real" food -- I'm glad I'm not the only one...I'm reading "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan right now (the guy who wrote The Omnivore's Dilemma) what a great read and makes me feel validated!!! Cheers and best wishes towards your goals!

"Beautiful Woman Award! Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the wall of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out."

One of my favorite movies and books is Bridget Jone's Diary where she wore a bunny outfit to a Vicars and Tarts party the party had changed and wasn't a Vicars and Tarts party.

I didn't know there really were Vicars and Tarts parties!

I don't mind salad but I'd rather eat the sandwich so I tell myself to eat the whole salad and then I can really enjoy the sandwich. I am a carboholic. It has helped me to cut down on the carbs, though.

Hey, we will get back to the weight we want to be. I read about your surgery. I had Valley Fever (a sickness common in desert areas) and was working on my masters while working full time and raising my child. I gained a lot of weight from being tired and run down.

Now I am feeling so much better and I will get back to my normal weight!
