I lost the weight before, but I knew at the time I was losing it that I wouldn't be able to sustain the weight loss because I couldn't keep up with the emotional processing aspect of it. I am trying to lose it now for what I believe will be the final time now. How do I know? I have been guided spiritually to deal with the underlying issues that have lead to my initially gaining my weight, and by that I mean really delving into inner child issues of food insecurity, neglect, an eating disorder I had thought was in my past but had just laid dormant for awhile until it resurfaced in order to be heard and healed, abuse, economic insecurity,
mindless eating to stuff my emotions and anxiety, and the devastating effects of mental illness. I have gone back and healed a great deal of my past which I had soldiered through bravely at the time, and that has greatly helped with my eating and enabled me to finally start successfully losing weight and keeping it off. It has given me a great peace, and I continue to work on present day issues as well as healing past issues as they arise since healing is much like an onion in that it has layers that need to be peeled back and dealt with one at a time as you delve more deeply into deep-seated issues with increased capability as you get stronger. I encourage you all to pursue WHEN YOU ARE READY a similar approach to dealing with unhealthy eating patterns if you are having trouble losing weight because of binge eating or controlling your eating successfully. There may be some things from your past that you don't even realize that you need to heal before you can progress in your weight loss journey. It is not fun stuff, but it can bring about great peace like you have never known in your life with the added bonus of more success in your weight loss journey.

As for what else I am doing along the way...I am watching my portions, cooking at home, and trying to eat as many whole foods as possible. I saw a dietitian who examined my food log and told me that I was doing a really good job eating healthy, but I just needed to consume fewer calories--around 1500-1600 daily in order to lose 1-2 pounds a week. That takes into consideration that I am on medication that makes me gain weight and how much I should weigh approximately for my height. I need to lose 100 lbs she said, but my goal is actually 85 lbs which would put me at a weight I was stable at for years and at a weight where I felt I was healthy. I'm glad I went to see her because she gave me really good, professional advice and a fresh, unbiased opinion about my eating which I desperately needed to hear. I am learning to be okay with being hungry right now. Over time as I get used to the smaller intake of calories and smaller sized stomach, I'm sure I will adjust.

As for exercise, I am doing a mix of cardio and strength training. I like to dance, kickbox, and lift weights on the stability ball as well as do exercises on the AbDoer360.

Binge Help:

?post=tips_how_to_stop_a_binge
Avoid that first compulsive bite. "[The bite that is compulsive is the one you know will send you into a binge frenzy. Prevent the first compulsive bite and you prevent the binge.

Be careful with your emotional triggers that lead to you reaching for food as a comforting tool and HALT before that first compulsive bite. H.A.L.T. = Hunger. Anger. Loneliness. Tired. Just some of the many feelings that lead us to reach for food. Before you even reach for the food, ask yourself what you are feeling and distract yourself while you figure it out mentally. Once you know why you want to eat and what the root cause is, do something about it or decide to not. Make it your choice, your decision; put things in your hands again. You are now in control.

Mindless Eating Prevention List:
No eating when not hungry
No eating while watching t.v. or movies
No eating while doing anything than distracts focus away from eating
No eating while simply bored
No eating as something to do
No eating as a way to put off something you don't want to do
No eating after cruising the kitchen absent-mindedly; cruise on.

emoticon Actions we take today affect how we live tomorrow. If we know what we want...if we listen to our heart's desire, write down our goals, and keep them in mind with every action we take...we create our dreams. We turn our wishes into goals and our goals into reality. We visualize the life we want and create it for ourselves.

    Blessings today and always!

emoticon Blessings today and always! I just want to share some thoughts about life.\ from Mother Teresa who has truly inspired me and continues to motivate me to become a better person.

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is a beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it. '
    Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
    Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it.

I will continue living each day with an attitude of gratitude. So many opportunities await us if we only choose to become involved by truly living life fully one day at a time.

emoticon So blessed and happy to be your friend

During my morning mediation and prayer time, I realized something very important......ATTITUDE. Do I truly have an Attitude of Gratitude? It's time for me to realize that my ATTITUDE toward the life I'm living and the people in it can have a tangible,. measurable and profound effect on what happens to me day by day. If I expect good, then surely good will come to me. If I try to each day to base my attitude and point of view on a spiritual foundation, I know it will change all the circumstances of my life for the better. Through daily communion with God my spirituality will be maintained.

During this month of November which celebrates THANKSGIVING may you and I remember to have an Attitude of Gratitude.......and may we continue to have it 365 days a year!

I am so thankful you are my emoticon emoticon

emoticon This day is mine. It is unique. Nobody in the world has one exactly like it. It holds the sum of all my past experience and all my future potential. It belongs to me to do with whatever I like. I can fill it with joyous moments or ruin it with fruitless worry. If painful recollections of the past come into my mind, or frightening thoughts of the future, I will put them away. They cannot spoil today for me.

Today is my special gift from God. How will I use it? The less I let others affect it , the more serene and satisfying it will be for me.

emoticon Have a serene and satisfying day!

We need to be studetns of life, We need to be open to learning. Our spirits can grow if we're willing to do three things: First, we listen, Second, we think about what we've learned. Third, we turn what we've learned into action. Listening, combined with thought and action, will help us learn life's best lessons.
