" Success is to be measured, not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed."
~ Booker T. Washington

This quote hits home a lot for me! I have had a few minor accomplishments with sports and athletics throughout my life. But 2 years ago I had the huge hurdle of a brain surgery to fix an epilepsy problem I have had. Most of the things I enjoyed and felt comfortable about when it came to exercise got removed from my allowed activities list. Running, not sprinting, was suprisingly on the ok list though. I started it just to get back in shape and help to try to control my competitive nature! But I have moved well beyond that being my reason for being out there! Running has become my way of quieting everything around me, searching my soul and being at home with Mother Nature! I think I have finally found the sport I was made for :')

" Never be ashamed of the scars that life has left you with. A scar means the hurt is over, the wound is closed, you endured the pain and God has healed you."
~ Unknown

I have fought the good fight.
I have finished the race.
I have kept the faith.
Second Timothy 4:7

" If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it!"

My Goals:
Short Term:
- Get down to 185 lbs by November 30th, 2012

Long Term:
- Run an ultra marathon by the end of 2015
- Continue to learn about my body, how it works and what it responds too!
- Get down to and stay at 170 pounds as a life not just a goal!!
- Join the Marathon Maniacs Elite Group :^)

My Program:
I treat my body like a machine. My mind, my heart and my soul are completely different, but my body is a machine. So I give it the same "gas" every day and make sure to "drive it" without thinking it is a "sports car"! It's more like a "pick up truck" :^) !!!

Personal Information:
The quote I love the most:

" I like running because it's a challenge. If you run hard, there's the pain- and you've got to work your way through the pain. You know, lately it seems all you hear is. . . Don't overdo it and don't push yourself! Well I think that's a lot of bull. If you push the human body,it WILL respond."
- Bob Clarke, Philidelphia Flyers GM

Other Information:
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the Crown of life that God has promised to those who love him
James 1:12

Thanks! I wish I could at least blame my aches and pains on inactivity, but I've been working out consistently (at least 5 days a week for at least 20 minutes, including regular fencing, walking, etc.) for 18 weeks.... and I've been working out in some form regularly now since 2005--some breaks in there due to injury or illness, but still pretty consistently. I've averaged at least 12000 fitness minutes a year for the past 3 years. So it's not just a matter of my body getting used to exercise.

I'll be alright.... Just needed to listen to my body and not over due it.

Thanks! I sure hope that the new Fit bit helps motivate, too, because right now I could use that kickstart to the motivation.... this past two weeks have been hard to keep moving even a little bit because 1) I've been having so many problems breathing and 2) I've been so sore (I think I actually over did the fencing the last time I fenced and actually inflamed one of my tendons... it took almost a week but it's finally starting to feel better). I'm really hoping that it will get here before the bridge walk but I didn't want to pay an extra $27 for shipping so it will get here when it gets here.
