100 lbs down... 200 to go!
Walking, hiking, dancing and cycling are my favorite ways to love my body. I've also enjoyed yoga and building strength with free weights. Recently I've been doing water aerobics, which I have come to love. :)
On September 8, 2010, I took my doctor's long standing advice, and had a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass done via laproscopic surgery. I lost almost 30 lbs before the surgery. My weight drifts down when I can keep all the puzzle pieces in place, but periodic ...

On September 8, 2010, I took my doctor's long standing advice, and had a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass done via laproscopic surgery. I lost almost 30 lbs before the surgery. My weight drifts down when I can keep all the puzzle pieces in place, but periodic setbacks (I'm a stress eater) and a possible mental block have kept me from moving past the 100 lb mark for long.
I'm working on changing my habits so I can be healthier, no matter what weight I'm at. I'm a good example of why all the exercise and diet books say "see your doctor before blah-blah-blah." I had bloodwork done that showed low thyroid function and almost-severe vitamin D deficiency. I now take thyroid medication and corrective doses of vit.D. It's so much easier to exercise if you're not fighting energy zappers you don't know you have! I've also had anemia and high insulin levels show up in the past. Talk about sick, tired and fat! I want to be healthy, full of energy and at least a normal size! A CPAP setup has also helped keep me awake and less fatigued during the day.
If you've lost a large amount of weight, or just want to cheer me on, feel free to friend me! ~ Here's to a healthier us !

My Goals:
I would like to get down to a size where I can shop in "normal" clothing stores. (almost there! Bought some 3X shirts in the women's section last week!)
I would LOVE to be able to run again!
I want to be able to fly and travel comfortably, without seatbelt extenders, and fit in movie theatre seats. (halfway there! movie seats are comfortable now!)
I want to be able to easily buckle my seatbelt. -- DONE!
Learn to live on 3 meals a day and no snacks (on advice of bariatric surgeon.)
I want to reduce the number of medications I have to take, just to keep functioning! - - ONE DOWN!
My Program:
3-0-1 (three meals a day, zero snacks, one day at a time.) Protein first, 60 grams a day. Weekly weigh-ins, Nutritionist recommended DASH diet.
PLANNED REWARDS:
for crossing the 350 line - a year's worth of Latisse
for crossing the 300 line - a vacation overseas
for crossing the 250 line - oh boy, I gotta come up with something good here.
for crossing the 200 line - a spa resort vacation (pamper me!)
for reaching 180 - a convertible, my choice!
for staying under 200 for three years - plastic surgery for excess skin removal, if still needed
Personal Information:
What am I aiming for?
I am SUPER looking forward to being able to weigh in on my balance beam scale at home. Less than 5 lbs to go!
Currently drinking LOTS of tea and no-sugar lemonade to get from one meal to the next without snacking. :)
Other Information:
"Fall down seven times, get up eight." - Japanese proverb
"Motivation is the ability to look past pain and sacrifice to the goal you have set." - from a Spark friend
"You are not beaten until you choose to give up." - me
