Hi, I'm Roscoe and with me is my lovely wife Grace. This is an old picture of us in the middle of a 5 mile day hike we took in early November 2008. I am around 270-275 in this picture. I never want to look and feel like that again. To that end, I began running with the C25K program.

We are trying to become more active and eat healthier. I believe that if you exercise moderation with regard to intake and exercise, the rest will follow.

Oct 2, 2010 I finished my first ever 5K. I haven't run regularly since the early 80's!!! I feel so much better. I miss it when I don't run.

I finished the C25K program and highly recommend it to anyone who is considering running. I look back at the mountains I slayed and am proud of what I have accomplished.

To stay motivated, I plan to run the Cooper River Bridge 10K in April. I liked C25K so much I started the Freeway to 10K.

I've only lost 15 pounds from this picture, but already I can tell the difference. My watch fit tightly on my wrist: last month I had to shorten the band because it was too lose!

Fitness Minutes: 9,105

My Goals:
I'd like to weigh in at 200 by the end of 2011.

I want to complete a 10K in April 2011, the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, NC.

I'd like to finish the year with 9,000 fitness minutes, that's 750 minutes per month.

My Program:
I am running 3 days a week and doing 20 minutes of strength training in between.

I am in Bible Study Fellowship, a non denominational Bible Study. We meet every week to discuss that week's lesson.

This year we are in the Book of Isaiah and I am loving it! Isaiah, at 66 chapters, has always been intimidating. To read it within the context of the history of Israel and Judah and then apply it to our current events is very helpful.

I have learned more about God and His word my first year in BSF than I had my whole life!

    Thanks for reading my observations on running. I meant below freezing temps, which translates into either C or F. I don't like to run unless it is about 8C or higher. My muscles just don't warm up enough for most of the run.

    thanks for the comment, i hope to be better soon so I can keep sparkin to the end of the year. I have finally reached my minigoal of 100 lbs lost now its time to put a couple more in the bag before the end of the year! -
