I'm 23 years old and have been struggling with my weight for most of my life. I've tried diets in the past but they were never successful as I had no structure to them.

I joined Spark over 2 years ago. I stopped spark for over 5 months after getting derailed thanks to a vacation. Although I worked out a bit and kind of watched what I ate, I wasn't dedicated and I wasn't losing as much as I wanted to. Finally I got the motivation from my bf to come back and now I am more dedicated than ever! I had to update my ticker to my new start and move it up 10lbs. It hurt, but it's not the end of the world.

Already I have lost weight since I rejoined. I have joined more spark teams and am hoping to make more friends. I know this time I need the support to keep me going. I need encouragement and someone to say "You can do this!". It's 30lbs. It's my life, my journey. It will be my success!

My new goal is to complete a 5k run either in June or if I'm not ready, in September. I'm really excited about this. I know I can do this if I stay dedicated and I think the run will help me to stay dedicated too. If I complete this I know I will be in extremely good shape at that time. This combined with my goal to lose weight before my sister's wedding (I'm the Maid of Honor!) will keep me glued to my goals. No derailing this time!

My Goals:
My primary goal is to lose weight and keep it off. I want to feel better about myself and at this weight my self-confidence is pretty low.
My hope is that I can do all of this by the summer so I can look and feel great in my bathing suits.
I also hope to run an entire 5k in June or Sept '09.

My Program:
My program is simple. I'm still eating foods I like but in moderation. I want to keep track every day of my calorie intake so that it is in the right range. I want to do cardio exercise 4-5 times a week and gradually increase my running time. I also want to maintain a strength training program. And lastly I am training for a 5k and am so excited!

    Yes, my next race is April 4th and I am very nervous about this one. It is on sand and that makes it very difficult to run. I went to the beach yesterday to give it a practice run and my legs were really killing me. I'm afraid this is going to be a slow race, but I bet I will be stronger after it is over!     Hey, this is kind of out of the blue, but i read your post to the daily spark article about the "Real Cost" of process food.

    I'm from london on, and i totally agree that it's totally unnecessary to ship produce to toronto in order to have it sold in the grocery store around the corner.

    I totally miss the green grocers... needless to say i'm a huge fan of farmers markets in the summer :)
