I started on SP about 11 years ago, determined that this was the last time I was going to stop and start - gaining and losing the same weight over and over. I was 263 when I started on Spark, my highest weight was 271. Right now I am at 219. Don't be discouraged by my numbers, I have a body that wants to hold on to this weight. It has decided that my set point is in the 200's and it is fighting me to keep it that way. I also have two genetic diseases, hyperlymphedema (Milroy's Disease) and lipodema. One causes me to retain a viscous fluid in my lymph system, and the other causes me to retain a layer of fat just under the lymph system which no diet or exercise can remove (liposuction is the only solution). Until I learned these things I was getting discouraged all the time, YET, I never quit, I kept fighting. Yes, sometimes I would say what's the use and give up for a few days, but I never wanted to go back to where I was or to have to keep losing the same weight over and over, so I would quickly get back on the journey.
Recently I started seeing a functional medicine nurse practitioner and found out why I wasn't feeling well rather than simply throwing another medication at a symptom. I was able to lose about 20 pounds over the eight months in seeing her. I have been eating organic, whole, and healthier foods. I have also found foods and additives that were causing many of my symptoms. I'm so glad that I found her. I still see my regular doctor (he's the one who suggested I go to her because I was so frustrated with not having answers as to why I felt so bad) and between the two I am getting better! Praise the Lord!
All of that to say, we are all different and there are varying reasons why we struggle losing weight. You need to learn your body. You need to make up your mind you will be willing to do whatever it takes to get healthy again (eating and exercise-wise). Our focus should be on our relationship with the Lord and not weight loss or getting healthy, but to be all that Jesus wants us to be we need to be healthy and in shape to do the work He is wanting us to do. That is what keeps me motivated. It's the right thing to do and it makes me a better vessel for Him to work through.

My Goals:
I don't have any serious illnesses (like diabetes or high blood pressure), and I would like to stay that way. I would like to get down to 190 - 200.


My Program:
I am working on a FODMAP diet to see if I can get my stomach under control. I am also eating a high protein/low carb diet. I've gotten most of the sugar out of my diet as well, but do allow myself a treat.

My name is Kim and I am now living in NC. I am 57 and have been married to a wonderful man for the past 32 years. We love the Lord and live to serve Him.


Other Information:
I am a Christian. I am an avid reader of Christian novels. I also enjoy doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku being my favorite. I am a stay at home wife.
In March, 2009 we lost God's precious gift to us, our 11 1/2 year old German Shepard, Max. Thank You, Jesus, for all those incredibly joyful years. We now have a new gift, Jake, a Chinook (well, we're pretty sure that's what he is - LOL!) God is good!
