hi I'm a happy sweet old lady lol. Yes I want to lose 50 l this year. am going to need some help.
I didn't take off the fifty pounds but I did lose 24, by Jan.2009

Mantra #1- Fat is not Funny. When you reach for that extra piece of bread or "just two" cookies, remind yourself that you find no humor in being overweight.

Mantra #2- Food is my Friend, Fat is Not. Like any friend, food can wear out its welcome. In measured quantities it is enjoyable, but overdo it and it becomes annoying.

Mantra #3- If it is Sweet, It is Sugar. You don't have to read labels to find the sugar in a lot of snacks. Remind yourself that if the reason you like it is because it is sweet there is probably sugar in it somewhere.

Mantra #4- My Family, My Friends, My Food. This is to remind you that food should not be used as a comfort. Family and friends should always come first and food is simply a necessary distraction.

Mantra #5- Live, Love, Lose Weight. Just like #4, this one is a reminder. While losing weight is important, don't forget to live life and spend time with those you love.

Mantra #6- I am a loser. Turn a negative into a positive with this one. In most cases being called a loser is bad, but when dieting we all want to be losers.

Mantra #7- I think I can, I think I can... It worked for the Little Engine and it will work for you. Just remind yourself that it can be done and keep chugging along.

Mantra #8- One pound at a time. The great pyramids were built one block at a time, a long journey is accomplished one step at a time, and your weight loss will occur one pound at a time. Total success will be measured at the end.

Mantra #9- Food does not control me. When those cravings strike remind yourself that food is an inanimate object that does not control you. You control when and how you put food into your body.

Mantra #10- I can do this! Deep down you know that you can. It is important to fight the urges to give up or slip from the path. When that urge creeps into your brain, just shout it out with a hearty "I can do this!"

1. Thou shalt honor and believe in thy self.
2. Thou shalt move thy booty, move it and move it somemore.
3. Thou shalt never go hungry again. Eat small meals and healthy snacks daily.
4. Thou shalt stock thy fridge with the right stuff. Fruits and veggies of the earth.
5. Thou shalt honestly write it down. If you bite it you must write it.
6. Thou shalt measure and weigh - thyself and thy food.
7. Thou shalt drink enough water to frighten Noah and map out all of the restrooms in the village.
8. Thou shalt not deny thyself a treat or two now and then.
9. Thou shalt not eat out of misery, boredom, anxiety ... but should thou indulge forgive thyself.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's plate.

Are You Giving Your Goals Your Best Effort?

Your dreams deserve better than a half-hearted effort. Meet your goals with a weak handshake and they'll soon be waving you goodbye. Since you probably don't want to look back on a life full of "almost made it" memories, it's time for total commitment. Leave it all on the field, don't hold anything back. Is there anything more satisfying than pouring out your entire being, straddling the cliff, reaching your total limit, then looking up and realizing that oh-my-gosh-I-can't-believe-I-really-did-it
? And is there anything more tragic than failing and realizing you could have done more? If you feel "tuned out" of your current life, that's okay. Make your first goal to build a life that you can get "in"-to. Then don't look back. Make every day count and live purposefully, live energetically, live completely.

There are natural consequences that accompany every choice we make in life. Some opportunities inevitably pass us by, but we can take advantage of others. Many people feel powerless, but this is rarely the case--some opportunities just require a little thinking outside the box. Today, reflect on the doors you are opening in your world and which ones are closing. You have the power to create the life you want if you are willing to set goals and take steps toward them. Rarely does fulfilling our hopes and dreams happen overnight, but you can take one tiny move towards them each day.

my goal is to lose weight the right way. by not stress eating at night. I can do this! Eating healthy and taking the weight off one pound at a time.
