I am back for more...lost my quit (several times) and gained a few more pounds. I have a new job that is not-so-new now, but still remains in my life with unnecessary added stress and the usual BS.

I am 39, married, have a BA English and am finally in grad school - YAY! My passion is writing, but I also love painting, music and my pets (3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 ferrets).

Since first logging into Spark many moons ago, I have quit smoking 6 times, failed at each attempt and gained an overall 30 pounds as a result of yo-yo quits, overeating and half-ass attempts at changing my eating habits.

I was a latte and nicotine addicted perfectionistic idealist that hated exercise. I am now a perfectionistic idealist that looks forward to the elliptical and my bike rides.

Am I losing weight? Yeah, a little. But more importantly, I am happier and have no desire to smoke. FINALLY.

Currently, I am owned by my Golden, Nikko, who is 10 years old, my little/big 4 year old RottX, Stuart Gilligan (Stewie), and recently added Echo, a Golden girl who is 2 now, along with 3 cats, Dexter, Dewey Dahmer and Otis Flywheel, and my three ferrets, Miss Pippa, Titus Andronicus, and Iago.

My goal is simple: eat better, live better and be happy most of the time. I want to finish my Master's degree, I want to start a rescue and I want to have the energy to continue working at the same time. The way I was going, I could barely get out bed and make it through a 10 hour shift before I would crash for 12 hours and drag myself out of bed to do it all over again. Now, I am up 4 hours before work and I have energy all day. And I am content. And that, for me, is happy.

Thanks to both for stopping by and visiting my page. I will graduate with a BA in English this spring (June 2007) and hope to begin my MFA September 2007. Well, I plan to begin my MFA, but whether or not the graduate studies chairs agree or not remains to be seen...if they be smart, they are planning to see me as I am them...heh...

Thank you very much for the support. I have been trying to lose weight for about 2 years now, but not really taking it seriously until recently.

I am doing okay and getting better at working out.

Quit smoking because I want to show my bf that it is not that hard. He is the non-smoking smoker. He walks around telling me that I smoke too much and he hasn't had a cigarette in 4 hours and so on. I don't mind if he keeps smoking, but I want him to quit drinking so much. I don't think that drinking is all that bad (I drink about twice a year), but he drinks everyday (or just about everyday) and thinks there is something wrong with him if he does not want to drink. So, I am trying to encourage him by quitting my habit first.

Suprisingly, I have not been overeating like I thought I would and i have not had any cravings. WEIRD!! Maybe it is all of the motivation...

Once again, thank you and congratulations on everything (quitting, losing weight, finishing school and being such a great motivator).

Nikko, Way to go on finishing up school and enrolling for your masters!! Once I double majored (a long time ago!) and didn't have the gumshoe to go on for my masters. Looks like you love dogs too. There is a dog lovers team out there you may want to join.

I agree husband are way more demanding!! But you gotta love them like you said, plus they don't have dog breath (at least all the time, hahaha!) Steph
