Hello everyone! My name is Rachel and I am a college student in Louisiana (at least for the next four (counting down!) months). I am looking to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle before graduation and a move for graduate studies.

I am really trying to create a program I can stick with. I have the knowledge and tools for losing weight, but I have always used a "diet" mentality and slowly but surely gained it back. While I am not huge by any means, I am short (5'3") so I need to weigh less than I do now to look and feel my best.

I love to exercise though I am terribly uncoordinated and lack athleticism. love yoga and love how my body is transformed by strength training but am working on doing more cardio to burn the fat. I aim for 3-4 hours of intense cardio a week in addition to 90 minutes of interval runs. Unfortunately I also eat like I am training for a marathon...really. I eat a lot and often, so I am finding the balance between quelling my hunger and not taking in more than I need.

So many people say they were driven to this point by not loving themselves enough and putting others first but that has never been the case for me -- if anything I love myself TOO much! I am constantly trying to find a balance between my natural selfishness and helping others, though once I am on your side I am loyal to a fault.

I can faux-get-along with anyone but I do not like many people. I am 100% left-brained and linguistic. I follow through. I see everything as black and white. I am terribly uncompetitive. I love fiercely. I dream big. I need lots of attention. That is hardly the whole of it but it will suffice.

My Goals:
To lose weight by lifestyle changes

To start Harvard's MTS program in Fall 2010

To find a maintenance plan and keep the weight off.

To crave healthy foods.




My Program:
1400-1700 calories each day

60 min. of vigorous cardio 6 days/week (Step, Stairmaster, etc).

30 min. easy exercise most days -- walking the dog, tap dancing.

Stretch after cardio!

Strength Training

10 fruits and vegetables a day

Protein at every meal/snack

    Thanks Rachel! It actually looks a little different than the pictures show, it's a lot lighter, that's for sure. I love it though! I'm totally fond of the sideswept bangs. :)

    Yes you can definitely call me at work OR after 9-9:30. I have a friend coming over for dinner at 7 and I"m not sure what time she is leaving. As for work, I'm probably going to go home after lunch and pick up some stuff I need to do so I'd imagine I'm leaving the office at 11:15-11:30.

    Um I definitely need a conversation about Zach too. Please put it on the list.

    What is dramatic! What is going on? I need to know it all!

    Um my little sister IS fabulous. She is 9 (about to be 10) and her name is Claudia. She loves art and fashion. She wants to be a model one day or make clothes. Oh boy. We do a lot of arts and crafts because that's what she really enjoys. We usually hang out once a week, sometimes every other week. Sunday we went and painted pottery! That was pretty fun.

    PS We need to have converstions about covert missions and your jobs soon.

    OMG don't judge me, but I have only run twice since my 5k. UGH I"m so embarassed about it I haven't said anything :( I am going this Wednesday though for sure for sure. Maybe a short run tonight before water aerobics. I've been doing A LOT of spinning. I bought spinning shoes, they are fabulous.

    Um covert missions are taking up a lot of time right now as I do secret agent work. Matt moved in with me too! So that's been a little hectic. And I've been hanging out with my little sister a lot.

    I feel like I have no idea what you have been doing?!
