I am a 44 yr old married mom of five kids & two grand kids. Four of my children are boys and I think over the years I've began to eat just like them. I'm going through major empty nesting phase right now which gets easier most days, but shows its head every so often. I have a law student at LSU in Louisiana, a graduated psychology major living in Oregon, a current math major in college and and USAF Airman in tech school living in Texas.

I see in the bottom corner I've been a member since 2007..and honestly, I haven't been at all consistent; which is really sad. Life is changing, and moving fast, and I'm letting it get by me while I wallow in the fact I haven't lost any weight. Motivation is hard for me. I can visualize what I want to do, its on my mind every day, but finding the motivation to get up and go the gym, or a walk is hard.

Its time to act on the change that I so long for, and get back to who I really am inside because I think I lost her... and I think I lost her a long, long time ago...

I recently came across this saying while reading another spark members page, and it really stuck with me. So much so, i had to nab it and put it on my own page! I hope it means something to all of you as well...

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.

My Goals:
~to loose weight, gain strength and tone and thin out my legs
~to not ache when I get out of bed in the morning.
~to wear the clothes I long to wear and look GREAT in them (especially white pants!)
~to be happier and get out of the funk that I am in.
~to be comfortable in public in a bathing suit
~to not be fearful that something I do/say/participate in will create embarrassment for myself or my kids.

My Program:
Food tracking
Exercise - daily by walking, cardio, weights, swimming, even simple house cleaning. I MUST keep myself moving. I have to remember I sit all day at work, and its not doing me any good.

I'm paying attention to MYSELF. What do *I* need? What is my body trying to tell me?

My over all goal is 80lbs, but I'm first starting small and going to make it 30 lbs. Then when I acheive that, i'll add the other 50.

Personal Information:
I live in Sacramento, California and have for my entire life (minus 10 months when we lived in Arizona). We're a large, blended family and I have been married for 21 years.

Other Information:
I'm a huge Rick Springfield fan, love the 80s decade, ocean, photography, genealogy and unique and creative people.

You're welcome for the comments on your blog. I have a long and hard journey to lose half of myself, 130lbs and yes it is hard and yes I can lose motivation and find loads of excuses for myself - I'll workout out tomorrow, diet starts next week so I'll eat what I want today, burying my head in the sand with health issues etc etc. The one thing I have noticed since I have been losing (and NOT gaining it all back) is it's all about your outlook and turning a positive spin on things!! I have gained 2.5 lbs in the past 2 weeks, in the past this sort of thing would make me think, whats the point, I may as well give up and give me an excuse to go mad with my eating - NOT ANY MORE! Instead I think of the positive - I have been eating well the past 2 weeks, working out more and probably gaining muscle (they certainly ache) and just because my hard work isn't reflected in the scales right now is not an excuse to give up!!
Sorry for waffling a bit - just trying to convey HOW much this journey is about ATTITUDE, we have to be positive cos it isn't always easy!!
I'm adding you as a friend and I'll be expecting to hear about a doctors appointment by the end of next week! This CAN be done, but you have to MAKE it!!
