After joining SparkPeople in 2005, I had already lost nearly 200 pounds from bariatric surgery I had in July 2003. My weight had stabilized and I was happy with my weight, body and life. In April 2006, I started really using SparkPeople when I realized I wanted to achieve my goals further. On October 20, I achieved my first ultimate goal, brining my total weight loss to 212 pounds.

What I have found is that a lot of people do not understand that the surgery is a tool and you have to really work to continue to lose and maintain weight loss by changing eating habits and making the right choices with food and exercise. SparkPeople has been a very nice tool for me--just to keep me mindful of my journey.

This May 5 & 6, 2007, I walked 39.3 miles with thousands of others as we combat breast cancer and we will continue to walk until there is a cure! In 2008, I will participate in the DC and NYC 2-day Walks. For more information visit www.avonwalk.org.

My Goals:
Weight loss, while still a goal, is no longer my focus.

**Eat and buy locally.

**Make me a priority in my life.

My Program:
Cardio 5-6 times a week; weight training 4-5 times a week.

Set small goals.

Personal Information:
My name is Nikki. I am originally from Michigan and currently live near NW Philadelphia.

My mantra:
Breath. Think Small. Breath, again. Revise as needed.

Other Information:
From Alice in Wonderland:

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.

"I don't much care where -" said Alice.

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

"- So long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.

"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if only you walk long enough."
