5% winter challenge gained 4lbs since start - jumped on scale today and lost 3!!! Am encouraged to continue.

My third week of the 5% challenge and I haven't given up yet - a new record for me! Been especially hard because I'm not progressing the way I had envisioned, the way I thought I "should." Will keep trying!

Well...looks like it's time to update my spark page since I'm developing new friends through this upcoming challenge. I decided to join the 5% Challenge because - well - because I'm not dead yet. Every time I give up on taking care of myself something inside of me just won't let go.

Am now a great-gramma called "GiGi" and am still teaching ELA part-time to adults getting either their GED or HiSET. Haven't finished my walk to P'town yet but I've only got 18 miles to go! Although I started this walk to celebrate my 65th birthday, it's now gonna celebrate my 70th also. Will start blogging again soon too.

It's been 32 months since I've written here, where does the time go...? So, I'm making a serious commitment to my health after learning that I'm inching closer to dialysis. Since I can't imagine a world without me in it, I need to make changes now and I want to use Sparkpeople as a springboard.

HI, I'm baaccckkkk! Hibernated from the heat all summer; too hot to even go over to the pool in my apartment complex! Will be resuming my walk to P'town in October. After my job ended in March I made the decision to semi-retire ( real retirement 4/14). Am currently a substitute teacher and assessor for the Boston Public School system's adult education component. Gearing up to get back out on the road by re-entering training, health and wellness mode. (After trying to beat the heat all summer with ice cream!) I look forward to jumping back into the SPARKPEOPLE pool.

64 year old "Gramma" still feels 30 inside! I work full-time as a GED language arts instructor teaching inner-city young people. My health has been up and down throughout the years. I'm a sugar junkie and would like to restructure my eating habits from 80% unhealthy, 20% healthy to 80% healthy and 20% unhealthy. To celebrate my 65th birthday next year I am training to walk from Boston to Provincetown, MA (about 120 miles (for my 50th I walked a marathon). I'm looking forward to Sparkpeople's support and motivation.

5. Sleep at least 7 hrs nightly
