I have never been able to change my eating and exercise habits. I'd succeed for a few weeks, months, but I'd always end up being too tempted by a candy bar or shopping was more fun than going to the gym. I've stayed away from fad diets, believing that common sense nutrition and exercise would be my answer. Unfortunately, I don't have any common sense when it comes to food and lack motivation to keep exercising.

Now normally I am not one to make a New Year's Resolution, but this year I decided to give it a go. I decided I was going to forfeit dessert for the entire month of January. No cake, no ice cream, no cookies. I failed on January 2nd. I decided to take a new approach and sort of on a whim decided to start the South Beach Diet. Now that I had some rules and guidelines (other than my own half hearted best intentions), it was easier for me to stick with it. I managed to make it two weeks on the Phase 1, but only lost a dissapointing 4 pounds. I was hoping to lose between the magical 8-12 pounds the book says on average you will lose during Phase 1. However I decided to stick with it because I know that even if I am not losing the weight, I am eating healthier and making better food choices.

I have also been trying to make it to the gym 3-4 times a week, which is difficult with a family.

My Goals:
I would like to be down to 119 by the beginning of August 2007. More importantly, I'd like to be toned and slimmed down enough to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothing size.



My Program:
Friday and Sunday Gym- Cardio and Weights

Hoping to make it to the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday's as well.

Other than that, chasing my kids everywhere.

    Hey thanks for the comment on my page. I've met my goal weight, but I think I'm still gonna try to knock off a few more pounds. The worst part for me is maintaining and keeping from over eating on the weekends. I hope you're goals are coming a long well, sometimes it takes a bit to find the motivation. Well, God Bless.

    Thanks for your sweet comment on my page! At this time last year, I couldn't run at all, and now I'm training for my second 5k (in May). You CAN run a 5k, all it takes is time, patience and training. I started out running less than 1/6 of a mile at a time, and just slowly worked my way up. Good luck with your goals - you can do it!

    Don't get discouraged over small setbacks. When you don't feel good it's easy to fall into 'bad' ole habits. Just start all over on Monday. I don't know why you're not losing weight but there are experts on this website, that will help you. Don't get discouraged. Most of us have had little ones and know how hard it is to take care of yourself and them too. Remember that a healthy mommy can take better care of her family. Don't starve yourself, just eat the good stuff. Email me anytime you need a shoulder. Been there-done that! ~~Vera
