2018: So here it goes...I've been "overweight" since 1998 - as soon as I got a desk job, I started putting on the pounds, and depression kinda made me say “why not...”. I’ve lost and gained so may times so I’m leaving all my old posts just for transparency, but this is my time. I’m now a widowed mom of 2 teen/ preteen kids so I have to do this for me and them. There is no one to fall back on, no one to bring me fattening foods, (that I have to eat to say thank you), but also no one to say I look good. It’s on me to figure that out for myself and I lm trying to best to show a healthy body image for my kids, but also to teach them what good foods and exercise will do to the body.

Jan 2013: I guess it's time to update this again. I don't want to erase what I've typed's interesting to read where I was physically and mentally. Motivation is NOT there, but from past experience, motivation isn't always the key to losing weight. I have no resolutions, only hope that my want to become healthy and active will become action today and motivation soon after. I've found the solution to MY weight loss (or at least a solution for me) but loosened up in November and December. Gotta get back on track!

Feb2011: I joined years ago and was an early advocate of the site. I told everyone I could about this great site and was successfully on my way, losing 20 pounds easily. Somewhere along the way, depression slowly crept up and quietly drowned me. Three years later I'm ready to start again...from scratch. The 20 pounds I lost have been back for a while. Life continued in those 3 years and my newborn baby girl is now 4 years old, my son is now 6. I guess I could continue to wallow in the 3 years lost of "being healthy and thin", but I would just lose more time, so instead, I'm turning over a brand new leaf and hopefully I will find my old thinner self underneath it ;)

There was no catalyst this rude comment or bad photo that got me back on track. The truth is, my son has said the truth to me several times (and I did not correct him, other than to say he shouldn't say that to other people). I've seen photos of myself and know how I look to other people. You wanna know what got me back on track? The iPod touch and a little app called C25K. The first week it coaches you to walk 5 min warm up, jog 60 sec/ walk 90 sec for 20 min, and then walk 5 min cool down. Sounded simple enough and I went with it. Slowly at first and repeating a few weeks several times. I logged my foods and tried the 30 day shred. I stopped doing the 30 day shred over the holidays...afraid that I would tip over the Christmas tree. I haven't started it again because I found a replacement. I joined a gym (for 3 month trial) to cross train and get on the elliptical when I had bad shin splints. I'm still trying to let my shins rest, but I have a hard time giving up on running. I have pitting edema due to the shin splints, so I have no choice right now. I'm trying to build muscle, too, but it's harder to do that than to mindlessly get on a machine for 45 minutes. Maybe I need a BIG poster that shows all the stuff I need to do.

One more weight is coming off VERY SLOWLY. I have my ups and downs about that, but on the good days, I don't worry about it. I'm exercising and eating good (most of the time). On the bad days, I think I'll NEVER lose the weight...or it will take years. And let's not start about clothes fitting better. Yes, my clothes are fitting better, but I'm still in the same size as I was 4 mths ago. *Sigh*...that's about it.

Personal Information:
I was born and raised in North Carolina, but my parents (and one sibling) are from Montana, so my preferences are more western based...

I've been a widow since June 2016. I have 2 kids who love soccer and gymnastics so I travel a lot with them, in addition to my regular job in clinical research.

Other Information:
I like to paint, work in the garden, hike, etc...but I haven't really found the time to do any of that lately, though have found SOME time for doing more art. My stuff used to be in a gallery before it closed, so now, we'll see! I've told my sister that I can be obsessed with one thing at a time and right now it's my health. My art, gardening, etc can wait.

    Are you interested in a Challenge?

    The Biggest Loser goes for 10 weeks. It consists of 11 teams participating in weekly Fitness and Nutrition challenges. The Spring challenge will be getting started the beginning of March. It consists of fitness and nutrition challenges that are often in a form of a game. If for some reason you cannot do a challenge then they are modified to meet your needs. Often we do the challenge in a game form, we have BINGO and TIC TAC TOE or seasonally themed. For Winter we had Help Santa Fill His Sleigh, Run Rudolf Run and Super Bowl.
