well there were tons of them. i'm done though..and they paid me a ridiculous amount of money to announce for 2 hours so i'm very grateful. nice to be done so early!!!
and..get this..i was walking by the McAdam/Cabot cheese booth they give out free samples and dollar off coupons so i grab some every day. and theres a sign..."Our farmers wanted to do a fair special..today only until its gone..fresh cheese curds $3 a pound."
its usually $10-$12 a pound...i said...i will buy a bunch moneys in the car be right back..i ran got my cooler bag and cash and went and bought 8 pounds. its all out in the very cold overflow fridge...well all but one bag, which has been raided.
they also are selling huge bags of whey protein powder for $10. James' waffle recipe uses it...this is a quarter cup scoop has 2 carbs...so maybe later in the week. i think its a 5 pound bag...

    that sounds cool!!
we have the grandstand, and the only place to buy beer and wine on the grounds is the beer house..trackside from the grandstand. its PACKED during shows..they have to buy a grandstand ticket then they can go in..lol. its not that big..so demand is huge.
funny..we have REALLY good cheese here. I thought with wisconsin being the cheesehead state theirs would be...Billy sends home for cheese..says theirs is blah. we have a farmer owned company out of vermont just over the border called cabot..their Seriously Sharp and Farmhouse cheddars are the best i've ever had.
The curd company is McAdam,,here in the county i live in. also excellent cheese...and great curds!
so cool about the llamas! maybe your kids can do it some day!

lol fair food is evil. yes we have corn dogs..the only cheese curds you can get at the fair are on poutine..and i have to stay FAR away from the poutine booth. its one of my favorite things and theres nothing keto about it BUT the curds..LOL. i always reward myself for a week at the fair with a bag of fresh curds. there is a big creamery here that makes them fresh for all the poutine stands..when i go into their little store to buy them they are so fresh they squeak in your teeth!!
there is a place on the grounds that sells wraps..i suppose i could get one and just eat the innards...but its just easier to take my own food. we have a fridge in the office and i can put my drinks and food in there.
too bad you arent closer i could get the kids a horse or pony ride, let them milk a goat or 2 and play with chickens. this is one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the country...if your kids read the little house on the prairie books, look for Farmer Boy. Almanzo was raised here where i live, and this is the fair Laura Ingalls Wilder writes about in the book. You can go visit his homestead, and Dean Butler, the guy who played him on the TV show, comes here often to the house and makes films and does autographs and such.
the fair keeps in tradition...lots of livestock and poultry, the usual tractor pulls and horse racing...grandstand shows tonite is REO Speedwagon) parades, prizes, midway, rodeo, etc. I've been there horse show and goat show announcer and pointskeeper for at least 20 years now...kinda fun, kinda too much work..LOL!
