My weight loss journey has been up & down for several years now.

I was unhealthily skinny as a kid. No eating disorder, just a genuine disinterest in eating (and, I believe, an undiagnosed anxiety disorder.) Dancing competitively kept me in pretty good shape, but when I quit dance at 16, my weight tracked slowly upward til I maxed out at age 23 at 171 lbs.

In 2010, I lost 30 lbs with SparkPeople and I had never looked or felt better.

Then for reasons that even I am unsure of (laziness?) I gained back everything I had lost, almost threefold. I fought back a few times between then and now, but I surpassed my previous top weight of 171.

I hear jokes about weight on TV, or talk about it with my dad, and my stomach drops. I don't want to weigh more than my dad (or Homer Simpson!!!). I don't yet, but if I don't change soon I will. I have been fortunate my whole life to have an evenly distributed body weight, so people don't believe me when I tell them how much I weigh. But that's starting to catch up with me and I'm looking more and more like a blob!

My boyfriend and I recently relocated to a city 10 hours south of where we both grew up, just for a change in scenery. Since moving here, I lost between 15-20 lbs just from having less stress, going from four jobs to one, and thus not eating takeout every night.

In November I started a new full-time job and feel that this is my opportunity. My eating is regular, I eat less junk food, I go to bed at a decent hour, and my job is a steady 8 hours on my feet. I already feel better, even if I haven't lost weight but it's time to translate those changes into steady weight loss by incorporating some exercise.

SparkPeople really is a valuable tool, and with it and other resources, I will repeat my previous successes.

Personal Information:
I am 34 years old and live in southwestern Ontario, Canada.

I love classic rock, and 90's alternative but certain pop and dance songs have a special place in my heart. In my spare time, I love to read - historical/science fiction and fantasy are my faves. I am very creative when I want to be, I just wish I could find the patience to be creative more often :)

    Added you as a friend.

I lost the weight in 2010 too, on SparkPeople. I went from 194 to 148. I felt so incredible. I found out I had hyperthyroidism and the medication made me gain weight. So of course gaining 12 lbs in 6 weeks was devasting, and I threw in the towel. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Now I’m 218. Ready to get back down to the 140’s. Life was pretty good there.

    We can do it!
