I realized after I posted “Sugar Cookie Day” that I wasn’t clear about the pup & neighbors. I put a correction in responses to the blog - should have put it in as an edit to the blog. Anyway, the pup is older than 6 weeks - I’m thinking about 3 months old. These people have no idea of how to take care of a toddle pup. I imagine she was basically removed from her mom & littermates, played with a few hours, & stuck outside the house the first night. Of course she howled! She was out last night @ midnight when I let my pups out for their last break, but she wasn’t outside when I got up. Heard her briefly tonight, quiet for the last couple of hours. I have noticed that when I don’t see her out, her water bowl is missing, but it’s out when she is. Their youngest son told me the first day that they were getting her “to keep the bad people from stealing our stuff”. I asked if they had problems with people stealing their stuff, and recommended training her to make sure she liked them. I could tell it went right over his head. The neighbors aren’t outside much when I usually go out, so we haven’t opened a dialog yet. In my head, I’ve told them she’s a toddler dog, and asked them how long it took them as toddlers to be potty trained, & how they would like being outside all night. Sigh.
