I have more energy and zest for life than I can ever remember! I'm able to interact with people by volunteering and/or just listening to their concerns. I find life enjoyable AND rewarding. So much of it is due to consistently signing on to Spark each morning.

When I had my hips replaced in 2013, it was a wake-up call for me. . My doctor, my counselors and friends were telling me I needed to lose weight. I was on blood pressure pills and pills for depression. Pictures of me showed a big spread around the belly. My anxiety level was over the top.

In March 2014, II was again "allowed" to exercise after the surgeries. I started by walking with a walker about half a block, then resting. It took me about six months to lose the 42 pounds. Within a few months, I was walking 5Ks on a regular basis.

SPARK really was what really did it. I've been in maintenance now for over 3 1/2 years now and am living life with zest and more energy than I ever could have imagined.

My husband passed away in July 2016, and it would have been easy for me to gain some of the weight back. However, with keeping up my exercise routine and tracking my food intake throughout his decline and death, I stayed under my "NO-GO Zone of 130. I've omitted meat from my diet and was able to reach a new goal of 115. So far, that previously "impossible goal" has been easy to maintain.

I've created a whole support system of wonderful friends and become much more independent and confident. I'm stronger and healthier NOW than I've been in the last 50 years.

My Goals:
To reach the right weight for maximum energy.

To master the technology to create DVDs of my pictures for my kids.

To learn "tough love" and set boundaries in my relationships with my adult children.

My Program:
I'm keeping up the exercise routine established over 5 years with Spark now that I've been on Maintenance for 3 years.. Using SparkPeople every day. I'm working with the Wellness Center at Ft. Lewis.. I experiment with plant-based new recipes constantly, now adding dairy and sometimes fish...so I guess I'm a vegetarian..

I'm 72 years old and happy with my life. Glad to be healthy and able to walk again.

I live in Lacey, Washington.

Other Information:
Love to create things, including yarn projects, friendships, and activities to share. My foreign exchange student from the Philippines will be with me all this school year.

Merry Christmas. I hope you are doing well, Spark Friend.

A report says Obesity and Diabetes are the conditions making Covid 19 deaths prominent. Also, people who have Type A blood, who are bald and over 65. Low Vitamin D is another factor. I listen to Dr. John Campbell from England on Youtube, as he has been giving information on Covid-19 since January. He sited the article on how research is showing the MMR vaccine is protecting children from Covid-19 and it may help us older ones, and having a MMR shot now doesn't hurt, if we had one as a kid. I know I didn't back in 1957.
