"Once in a blue moon we find a gem!" SO glad I happened upon Sparkpeople!

This is my third year with Sparkpeople, and it continues to be a stabilizing force in my life.

With age and less activity, my weight has gone up and I know I must get it down to help my joints feel better and to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol. I do fine with tracking and moderation during the daytime, but compulsive eating habits often haunt my evenings.Still working on it!

Since I joined Sparkpeople, I have improved my attitude about diet and exercise, due especially to the wisdom and motivation of the wonderful Spark teams I was lucky to find AND to the Sparky individuals who keep me growing strong.

Fitness Minutes: 85,077

My Goals:
Lose 5% of my bodyweight or more during the 5% Challenge. Then keep going!
Establish and maintain an exercise routine.
Control sugar cravings.
Make wise food choices 90% of the time.
Track food consistently.
Practice gratitude.

My Program:
~ Clean eating balanced diet. Limit carbs. Attempt to avoid junk food. Track calories using Spark tracker and stay within range.
~ Exercise: At least 30 minutes of walking and/or recumbent bike 6 days a week-- Strengthening exercises 3 times a week-- Flexibility exercises 3 days a week. Excuses: ZERO times a week.

Personal Information:
I'm retired from teaching and live in rural southern Michigan. I am a volunteer reading tutor for the local elementary school. I love reading, gardening, travel, and my grandchildren-- who have moved too far away! I'm also attached to the warmth and wisdom of my ever-growing circle of Spark friends.

    How are you doing? I am having some struggles with the sugar cravings, but I am down to two treats a day!! lol, That's good for me. , this sugar challenge makes you think of how much you are eating a day, as there is sugar in almost everything, that you would never count as sugar. All we can do is keep plugging away till we're skinny mini's again!!! emoticon Happy Day, Sheri

    Will power, What's will power? I'll see if I can conjure up some of that for both of us as soon as I figure out what it is!!! lol----I think if I had a personal shopper I could do this diet better, cause I know where all the goodie isle's are and I can't seem to pass them up while shopping!!     Thank you, I did evacuate to friends who live further away, but came back next day and just a lot of limbs and palm branches down where I live, he was kinder to us than some who are North of us. Have a great day--- Sheri
