After an Autumn 08 recommitment to live a healthy lifestyle, I've lost 62 pounds as of Summer 09.

I still have over 100 pounds to loose, so I've set some short-term goals: 1) Loose 10% of my body weight every three months, until I reach a healthy percent of body fat, and 2) Make exercise a routine part of my life, staring with swimming and weight lifting.

I want to share a long, illness-free retirement with hubby John, being active, especially with my grandsons. Also, since my daughter's dealth, I want to be healthy and available to support her husband and son as needed.

Here at SparkPeople I find the encouragement and tools I need. In February '09 my husband also began tracking his food. I'm so thankful for the online resources and the opportunity for community here.

My Goals:
Live a long healthy life to play with the grandkids and enjoy my husband.

Slowly loose weight in 10% chunks.

Enjoy daily exercise.

Maintain a healthy percent of body fat.


My Program:
Eat 5 or 6 small, balanced meals each day, staying within a calorie range for weight loss.

Drink 8-12 cups of water daily.

Stretch daily.

Do cardio 6 days per week, mostly water jogging & lap swimming.

Strength train every 3rd day.

Get 8 hours of sleep each night.



Personal Information:
Hubby and I are retired.

We have 3 grandsons -- a 5-yo from my daughter, and a 3-yo and 10-month old from my step-daughter.

We have two dogs, a senegal parrot, and a small backyard flock of laying hens.


Other Information:
I like learning, bargain hunting, camping in our teardrop trailer, and making good memories with our kids and their families at our home.
