December 9, 2013 - Once again the year will be coming to a close. I am still not at my goal weight but I keep working towards it. I have not done so well with avoiding grains, sugar & processed foods this past year - I know once I can get back to that, my weight would come back down again. I continue to run when I can (dealing with weather right now). When the weather isn't fit, I do a workout DVD - usually a walk with Leslie Sansone. I'd really like to reach my goal by the end of 2014.

December 3, 2012 - As 2012 comes slowly to a close, I must say I am happy with the downward move of the scale that I saw this year. I started the year out at 169.4 and as of today (Dec. 3rd) I am at 147.2 - not the lowest I saw this year but still lower than the start. I have been sidelined with my running due to a chronic Plantar Fasciitis problem in my left foot. I had prepaid to run races so I made sure I ran them - yes, with the foot issue - not the wisest thing to do but I got through them. Now, I am taking the rest of 2012 off to give my foot time to heal properly (so far that hasn't happened & I'm thinking a shot of cortisone may be necessary before the end of the year).

As I went through November & started into December, I made a visit to the dentist, only to find out that a root canal was needed, as well as a root lengthening before the permanent crown. So I have spent the past week eating soft foods and seeing my weight drop due to the limited eating I've done. Today I had my root lengthening process done & it's not feeling very pleasant inside my mouth to say the least. I'm thinking I may not gain much over the holidays at this rate.

But I wanted to take the time & update where I am & where I want to go from here. My goal weight hasn't changed much and I'll be happy with a pound a week drop but I'm not going to obsess about it if it happens to be 1 pound every 2 weeks. I know what I need to do & how to get there - it's just getting committed to following through again.

Again, in the perfect world of 1 pound lost/week it would look like this:

January 1, 2012 - As I enter 2012, I am making serious efforts to make this the year that I reap the benefits of exercising and eating responsibly.

In the past year, I lost 3.6 pounds but since 2008 I'm down 12.6 pounds.

2011 is over - I lost a few pounds (and found them and then lost them again). I am definitely lighter now than I was in 2008 when I reached my all-time high of 182! I have been losing what I call really slowly but at least my weight has been below 175 for most of 2011. I know I didn't gain weight all in one year - in fact I had figured at the point when I reached my highest weight, I had gained 72 pounds in 25 years! That's 2.88 pounds/year. Now granted, I prefer that I don't have to take the weight off in 25 years but then I'm not looking to drop to the weight I was when I graduated from high school either. I have lost 12 pounds in 3 years and would like to see another 40 leave my body - I don't plan to rush the weight loss - I just want it to be permanent when it does leave.

My plan of action is to eat only when I feel true hunger and then quit eating before I feel stuffed. I will keep myself hydrated with water. I plan to walk outdoors 5 days/week through the winter. Once spring arrives, I want to get back to running.

I am going to start incorporating a journal of my weight loss progress and efforts. Overall, my weight loss will be a journey of God's leading in my life as it is He who I need to be living for & obeying daily.

Starting weight - 1/1/2011 - 169.4

My goal is to lose 1 pound per week and in the perfect world that would translate as follows:

168.4 by 1/8 - done
167.4 by 1/15 - done
166.4 by 1/22 - done

    That is truly weird that the pain could be coming from your back. But it does sound possible. Let me know after your appointment.
    Once my DH was having stomach pain, and we went to a couple doctors. The second time I went with him, and something that either the doctor said, or my DH said, made me think it was his back. We went to a physical therapist - one time, and the problem that he had for a couple years was solved!
    I have ordered the Xylitol on line. I will have to see if they have some of the other things, like bees wax, that I could use in recipes.
    How did you like the salve when you used it? effective?

    Can I ask what kind of insoles you had? Were they hard or flexible? My DD uses some that she says she loves, but they are hard and I put them in my shoes and thought I was going to die! I couldn't even wear them for 15 minutes. She told me they take a couple weeks to get used to. I wouldn't have been able to stand them for that long! Ouch!
    But the ones I got are only covering the heel and a part of the front, so 3/4 of the foot, toes free. They were the solution for me. I got my other DD some, and they are gel, and only cover the heel and extend into the arch maybe an inch. She says they are helping her too.
    I do hope you get relief.
    Thanks for the toothpast recipe. I like using Xylitol in baking too, and it makes my teeth feel clean eating somthing that has it in it. Where do you get the glycerin? (what kind of a store - drug store?)

    Have you tried inlays for your foot problem. I forget, is it Planters Faciitus (don't know if I spelled that right). I had problems with my one foot hurting all the time - thought it was the weight, but lost weight, it got better, then got worse again. Someone suggested the inlays. I just got a pair - they were only about $7-8 at Walmart, I forgot the company, but not the Dr. scholls - In less than 24 hours I had relief. I wore them all the time (meaning shoes all day). I no long have problems and don't need them, but if that pain returns, I will use them again.
    I would love your recipes or resources for the homemade household products that are natural.

    I live in Germany. And my running, well, I am doing about 1 day a week right now. This is the first time I have felt unmotivated. I know that last year I couldn't really run because we had too much snow, and I don't have a treadmill. I only ran last Sunday and since then only did walking. Need to get myself in gear!
    I thought I would respond here, since there is a new thread in December. See you over there. And, I would definitely call the dentist to see if what you are going through is normal. It might not be.

    I bake my own bread using the "Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day" method. I love it. It took me a couple of months to get a recipe and a routine that worked best for our family, but now it is a habit and we love it. I tried my first attempt at a higher protein bread this week using the quinoa bread recipe in the book. It was good, but still not the levels of protein that I am looking for, so I will keep experimenting. I got the books for Christmas a couple of years ago and watched a bunch of videos on YouTube. There is a lot of infor out there on the no-knead method. I am sure you will find the right one for you. Good luck in your venture.
