I am a 21-year-old undergrad college student from Chicago, IL. I'm majoring in Psychology and headed for grad school after this! I'm here at Spark because, after years of yo-yo dieting and little motivation, I'm finally completely tired of being overweight and not being able to wear all the cute clothes that they don't make in my size. For once, I want to be able to walk into just about any store and not worry about whether or not they're going to have my size.

I gained about 40 lbs after starting college and have since been over 200 lbs. You hear about "Freshman 15", but I also gained "Sophomore 10", "Junior 15", etc...I've always been around 170-180 lbs in high school, which was okay for me because I carried the weight well and would not have much to lose when I started losing weight. Now, I'm about 80 lbs heavier than where I want to be (130 lbs) and there's no way I'm letting it get worse than this! I'm hoping this site can provide that little bit of motivation for me to get where I want to be.

My Goals:
I like to focus on mini-goals, instead of huge ones:

First mini-goal: 199 lbs by October 15th

Second mini-goal: 170 lbs (high school weight)

Ultimate goal: 130 lbs

My Program:
I am losing weight by eating 1,200-1,400 calories per day, plus exercising at least 30 mins a day (mostly cardio). I haven't drastically changed my diet because I know I won't be able to stick with it in the long run, so I basically eat the things I Iike in moderation (my daily caloric intake never exceeds 1,400). Anytime I try to eat only "health foods", I fall off the wagon. However, I have made some healthy and sustainable changes to my diet, such as only eating whole wheat bread (instead of white) and snacking on fruit instead of sweets. So far, so good!

    Thanks for your comment and I can definitely identify with wanting to go into the store and they have your size in the item that you want. I would also like to get some of my clothes on sale like my thinner friends. I've never gone into a store and bought a pair of jeans for $10. Good Luck on your journey. You can definitely do it.
