A "before" shot. This was taken in August 2008
I did it! I finished my first half marathon! The feeling was AMAZING! 2:01:12 (October 3, 2010)
A little inspiration! Thanks for the mantra RAWKNRUN! I put this on my arm the day of my first half.

Finding myself again.....
Hi Everyone! My name is Nicole. I've struggled with my weight my ENTIRE life. I've seen the scale go up and I've seen the scale go down more times than I'd like to count. I remember being on my first "diet" at the age of 8. At my heaviest, I weighed in at 262.4. I managed to lose a few pounds and keep them off for a little while and then on December 1, 2008 I finally decided it was time for a change...and for good. I weighed in at 243.6. I started working out (slowly) and changing my diet. A little over a year later, today I'm weighing in at 128! Along the way, I discovered that I actually enjoy running! Who me??? Who would've thought?! I'm loving my "new life". I love the way this healthier lifestyle along with exercise has made me feel strong and healthy.
Now, I'm faced with another journey ahead of me...to keep the weight off and finally lead the healthy life I want. I must admit that I'm pretty terrified to put the weight back on. I've done it so many times before. I'm hoping this time is different because I've learned so much more this time around, and realized that this is truely a lifestyle change and not another "diet" . This time I did it for ME and not because I had a specific occasion ahead of me that I wanted to lose "X" amount of pounds for. But because I finally want to be that strong and healthy person I know I CAN be, and the person who someday wants to be a good example for her future children.
Update:
On January 4, 2011 I discovered that I am pregnant. I had been struggling to maintain my weight loss going into the Christmas holiday and packed on a few pounds. When I found out I was pregnant, I had so many overwhelming feelings that I started gaining weight back at lightening speed. I've managed to gain 18 pounds since I found out I'm pregnant, and had gained 13 prior to that. I'm starting this pregnancy exactly where I didn't want to...unhealthy. Although I can't do anything about the past few months, I can try to get myself back on track and be as healthy as I can during the rest of this pregnancy. I just might need a little support and guidance along the way.
UPDATE-12/2/11: I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on 9/12/11. She is my love. Unfortunately, I gained close to 90 pounds during my pregnancy due to giving myself a pass to eat like Iike I used to. Tell a food addict who eats to soothe anxiety that she's going to become a mother and see what happens....90 pounds. EEEK. Now I am faced with losing a large amount of weight again. I know I can do it, I've done it before. Am I angry with myself that I have to? Yes. Am I struggling with motivation right now? Yes. Am I giving up? NO WAY. Today I start a new journey...to be fit for myself and to become a role model for my little girl.

My Goals:
*To finally live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I want to stop the yo-yo cycle I've been stuck in since my childhood.
*To learn how to live a more balanced life. It's difficult to eat "normally" or balanced when you never did it before.
*Drink WATER
*Try to be as healthy and active as I can possibly be throughout this pregnancy.
My Program:
I had been an active runner and loved to use a variety of DVDs. In the past couple of months, I've hardly done anything that would count as exercise. I'm really trying to get some of my motivation back. The goal is to exercise for 30 mins at least 4 times per week.
Personal Information:
I'm 35 years old and live in Pennsylvania with my husband of 8 years along with our newborn daughter, 2 dogs and cat. I work as a social worker at a local hospital, doing assessments on pregnant women, helping those who struggle with mental heath and/or substance abuse issues during their pregnancies.
