I believe that if you embark on a weight loss program and you really embrace it then it will become a journey that can only benefit your life and everyone in your life. I started my journey 6 years ago and it has helped shape me into the person I am, which I love....but I believe that I can be even better and that is my goal!

I started my weight loss journey many years ago but until my hypothyroidism was diagnosed just before I turned 40 I was a complete failure. After diagnosis I lost 70 lbs over 4 years, a little at a time and maintaining for several months before losing more. I didn't plan it this way, that is just how it worked out. I put about 10 lbs back on by not paying attention and now I am after those 10 and 10 to15 more. If I can do it, I know that anyone can.

2010 is the year I make my health my priority. No excuses to reach all the goals I have set.

2011 is the year that I discover what works best for my changing body due to this new stage of life. Bring it on Peri Menopause!

My Goals:
So much closer to 50 than 40. I was healthier at 40 than I was at 30 so hoping I can say the same for the 50's versus the 40's

My Program:
Drink 10 glasses of water everyday.

Track all my food daily and stay within calorie range.

Cardio at least 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes a day.

Encourage other sparkers which will also benefit and bless me!

Personal Information:
I live in Riverside County, CA and even though I don't like the traffic, smog and all the other stuff that goes with city life, I love the weather and the sunshine, just not every day! I am an outdoors girl that would wither up without a regular dose of sunshine but am finding out I truly appreciate rain.

Other Information:
I am married and in my late 40's. Both of my beautiful children are grown and gone. I have 6 grandchildren that I adore. I have been discovering who I am, other than a wife and mom over the past 8 years. I have rediscovered my love of the outdoors and to be active.

    Ok I have to find a new picture for my sparkpage, the fat cows gotta go! LOL! I'm feeling strong and fit at the moment, so the cows not matching my current self image :) How are you going? Are you still keep on track with the calorie counting? and how's the weight going? emoticon

    Good to hear you are knuckling down. My scale on the other hand has stopped moving but my clothes are more loose and the belly is definitely flatter - go figure! Must be all the muscle I'm putting on. I read an article yesterday that said even if you achieve 80% of your fitness and eating goals on average you are doing well. Some days will be 100% others 80% or even 50% as long as you average around 80% you are going to see change - so I guess they're saying you don't have to be perfect all the time as long as you are doing most things right most of the time - takes a bit of pressure off. Didn't exercise this morning cause I was up late last night watching the Asian Cup Soccer - Australia vs China - was a great game and we won, but boy I'm paying for it this morning! Very inspiring watching such fit athletes, not to mention very easy on the eyes! LOL!

    Sorry to hear about your arm, I know how frustrating it can be to have an injury that prevents you from doing what you want. Glad to hear you haven't let it defeat you and you have adapted your exercise to suit. I am finally back into the exercise groove again and mostly eating right! LOL! That kilo I put on at Christmas is almost gone, yay :) I am mostly focusing on strength and weight training and it seems to be working - I love how strong it's making me. My stand up/sit down desk is going really well too - I stand for the first half of the day and alternate in the afternoons. The other day I stood all day doing filing and didn't even notice - which was great, a few months back it would have killed me being on my feet for 8 hours. Take care of yourself and good to hear you are on track. emoticon

    Happy New Year! So good to her from you :) I know what you mean, it is really hard to stay on track during holidays and festive get togethers. I just came back from a 10 day break and holiday with my family and have managed to put on 1 kg. Not too bad really, last year I put on 2. So now I am reading health mags and healthy living articles to get me motivated again. Didn't quite make it out of bed this morning early enough to work out, but then I am readjusting to normal hours after lots of late nights and sleep ins - it will happen, if not this week then next - that's my deadline to get back into it. Meanwhile I am staying focused on eating healthily and cutting portions - going okay so far :)

    Hi! Looks like we have both been MIA - too busy lately especially with Christmas looming large. I have been intensifying my exercise in the past 3 weeks and am doing a combo of Jillians Level 2 Ripped in 30, Leslies Burn/Firm workouts and Jillian's Shed it with Weights - am finally using that 4kg kettleball I bought - have to say I'm enjoying level one of this DVD so far - had a sneek peek at Level 2 - and boy she ramps it up several notches in that one - scared me witless! LOL! But I am determined to eventually get there. How are you travelling, hope you and your family are all well. emoticon
