Update 5/2015

After nearly 4 years of maintenance life's struggles have derailed much of the health and fitness goals I reached so hard to reach. I am rededicating myself to get that health and fitness back. More importantly my ultimate goal is to achieving a healthy balance in my life.

Previous....June 2010 update...

October 19th 2008 I stumbled on the Spark People Web site and it changed my life. It's now June of 2010 and I'm proud to say I've maintained a 50 lb weight loss for one whole year! There have been a few bumps in the road but the spark people community & motivational tools have helped get me back on track. I also ran a half marathon in September 2009 and a full marathon on May 16th 2010.

In the past I have been a lifetime binge dieter...I have lost hundreds of lbs only to gain them back...my 2010 goal is to really "own" the lifestyle changes I have started and stay off the diet roller coaster ride for the rest of my life!

The SP community has also been very helpful. I realize we all face alot of challenges there is always someone to support you when you need it. Hopefully I am also supportive of others in need.

My Goals:
Loose these last few lbs and maintain my weight loss for the first time in my life!!

My Vision Statement is to be able to be free from unhealthy diet habits and embrace healthy eating as a permanant lifestyle.

I also want exercise to become more fitness motivated and less calorie burning focused...


My Program:
Reducing "bad carbs" and making exercise a regular part of my life.

My weight has fluctuated widely throught my life, since about the age of 16. I've been a size 2 and a size 14 and was pushing the outer limits of the 14's in October 08 when I joined spark people.

    I think your fitness base is probably still there and you should be able to build back quickly. But I found that I always had to build my miles back up after my marathons if I didn't maintain a very long run. I'm not training for a race this summer (too hot), but I am running three times a week in the gym and maintaining my distance by running a 16-17-20 miles every three weeks. When it gets cooler (if it ever does!) I will jump into a marathon program at the point that corresponds to the long runs I've been doing.

    Hey Nanette, no, I was running when I fell...lost my balance at mile 10 when I stepped on a crab apple in the rain. Cut up my left arm 3 in and got scraped up too but kept going to finish my 13. It was made more scary b/c it just down poured on my after my fall and there was thunder and lightening above me....but I made it home ok! Glad to see you were in your range today!! Woohoo!! :)
